Bastion Thoughts

I finally got around to play Bastion and I finally understand why it received so much praise. I don't think there was a single thing I disliked in the game. The gameplay is very solid with fun combat and variable difficulty based on "idols" you can activate to give buffs to the enemies. There are a wide variety of weapons (all of which have 5 tiers of upgrades) which provide a good diversity in combat. The graphics portray a very distinct looking game and each environment looks different and equally as good as the others. The in game music is some of the best I have ever heard and I actually can remember multiple songs. Finally the story was interesting and told in a very good way. There is a narrator who talks about the story as you are playing the game so there are almost never any breaks such as cut-scenes or something similar.

Everyone who likes playing video games needs to play this game at some point.
