For $64.99, you can get this limited edition bundle , straight from Nintendo.com’s web store. You’ll save $5 on the cost of buying them separat...

>friend’s birthday is coming up >decide to buy him a game >due to overstock and low demand, prices on new, sealed copies are lower at Gamestop >grudgingly go to Gamestop >ask clerk for a new copy >”Sure, let me check the back.” >”Only one left is the store copy.” >clerk picks up case from shelf with “New” sticker on it and pops a disc into it >tries to sell me “new” game that’s not new, sealed,...

So I had this dream last night that I was in the basement of an HMV-like store that sold video games instead of music and DVDs. I wandered into the “Imported” section and found myself face-to-face with Suda 51 himself. Behind me was someone who looked suspiciously like Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes . Suda was laughing and reached for the nearby rack of games. There were two copies of Xen...

Hey guys, I need a hand. I'm making a Manny Calavera costume for the upcoming Montreal Comicon, and I want to print up some DOD travel packages, as seen in this screenshot: Grim Fandango Travel Packages I can't seem to find decently-sized ones for printing out, but before I try to make my own, I was wondering if anyone had any printable images of the DOD flyers handy. Thanks for the help, duders!

Hey, gang. Your friendly neighbourhood Numbers guy here with another of my posts about a dream I've had. I've been having some rather fun dreams lately, often involving old friends I haven't seen for years, but last night's one was unusual enough for me to want to write it down. I think my last dream-related blog entry was around Christmastime, when I had one about my at-the-time girlfriend. We...

I'm a big Duke fan , and like many others, have been patiently waiting for Duke Nukem Forever to come out. The demo did, today (for Duke Nukem First Access Club members anyway), and you can bet I tried it out. Here's what I thought. The pointless title screen. ALSO, I'M RUNNING IT ON A LAPTOP AT 640x480, SO DON'T BITCH ABOUT THE GRAPHICS. I played the PC version of the demo, released on Steam (...

You guys know I'm a Duke fan. I have a column at KittysPryde.com , a site about comics and stuff. This time, I wrote about my life as a Duke Nukem fan, waiting for Duke Forever, doing things like writing about strip clubs in grade school assignments and and awkward online conversation with Scott Miller . Check it out here ! http://www.kittyspryde.com/?p=20987

I was given a column on KittysPryde.com , a site about comics and other groovy entertainment stuff. For my first article, I wrote about the fun times I had at the Montreal Comic Con . You can read my article here if you want. There are pictures and a video, including me in my Minecraft Creeper cossssstume. Creepers gonna creep.

I know, I'm way overdue for another of my Mass Effect progress entries. Been busy with exams and other crap lately. I'll keep them coming, though!

In Chell We Trust Like many people, I really, really enjoyed the hell out of Portal . That early trailer, "there's a hole in the sky through which things can fly"? I showed that to a bunch of my friends and I remember watching it with my brothers thinking, "holy crap, we have to get this game." Portal was a unique gaming experience filled with puzzles and dark humour, and I had a blast playing...

In my previous blog post , I voiced my dissatisfaction with the demo of Mass Effect 2 , which I assume misrepresents the full version of that game. Initial reactions But I also mentioned I would play the Mass Effect games regardless. True to my word, I started a Mass Effect 1 game, and if I wasn't typing this, I'd be playing it right now. I have the Steam version, and the store page mentions th...

I haven’t played Mass Effect . Let me say that I’m not trying to hate on the game or the franchise ; I just was never terribly interested in it. It didn’t catch my attention when it came out, there is no demo available, and the rave reviews sounded like hype to me. I'm talking about the Demo. A demo of Mass Effect 2 was made available months after the game’s release (great sense of timing...) a...

Hey-oooooooooo! Steam ’s having a Monday Night Combat free weekend, on RIGHT NOW! Check out the game for free and save 33% if you decide to buy it. Plus, there’s a bonus costume for the Assassin which is only available during the free weekend event. So fire up your your Steam client, grab some juice, and kick some ass! So I got Beyond Good & Evil for free from Good Old Games because of the contest they're running now, and once I'd fixed the flickering issues, I tried to give it a shot. I'd heard great things about this title and a friend of mine strongly recommended it. Damn it, Ubisoft. The PC version feels like an afterthought. Controls are poor, both in-game and in menus, and the lack of mouse flipping opt...

If you've seen my other blog posts, you're probably aware that I'm a huge fan of Super Metroid , and a big Metroid fan in general. Recently, someone asked me about how I felt "about the contemporary portrayal of Samus Aran , in that she has essentially become 'Space Barbie'." Rather than give a straightforward answer, I had to spend the day writing out a long-ass rantpost. For your consideratio...

inb4 lrn2customize I sure have mentioned it a lot, but it'll appear on this list one last time. Ladies and gentlemen, Super Fucking Metroid , pictured here with my Control Decks and shitty Saturday Morning Samus custom, which I keep on a shelf with Transformers Animated Lockdown. Animated bounty hunters gotta stick together, yes? Well, that's it for my Gaming Days. Thanks for checking them out....

"Day 29 - A game you thought you wouldn’t like, but ended up loving. I bought Kane & Lynch: Dead Men from a bargain bin, and as flawed as it is, I really enjoyed it. The story and characters drew me into it, as arguably bad as they might be. Really enjoying its sequel, too. Also, Resident Evil 4 . Bought it in a bargain bin for $5, and shit, did they botch the PC version. I know my friends like...

Good question. I don't know. I'll mention a few I really dig. LucasArts , due to gems like TIE Fighter , Dark Forces , Jedi Knight , Fate of Atlantis , Monkey Island -- you get the idea. Epic [Mega]Games because I really liked their 2D games when I was younger and love the fuck out of their Unreal franchise . Then they went all dudebro and decided to fuck up their PC titles. Way to stay classy....

THE LAST METROID IS IN CAPT-- wait, what? WELL, FUCK. Finale of Super Metroid . Going to try to explain this one without spoilers. So you finally reach Tourian and watch as a enemies crumble to dust, having been drained of life by metroids . Hit up the save station and descend into the Mother Brain 's lair. You finally reach the glass container and your fingers fly across the weapon select, jum...

STIK FORTRESS 2 I don't know about best, but some of the most memorable are from Team Fortress 2 . Quotable as hell and just as hilarious. I've had entire conversations when all we've said were TF2 quotes. The characters' voices perfectly suit their personalities and designs, and the delivery of their lines and the acting in general really adds to the light-hearted, humorous atmosphere. Also, i...

Oldschool is the best school. Depends on how you define "classic." Are we talking Intellivision , here? DOS? Scumm engine ? I loosely define "classic" as "from before today's console kiddies were born," so I consider TIE Fighter and MechWarrior 2 classic, even though they're not that-- wait, shit, Mech2 was, what, '94? '95? BACK IN MY DAY WE CALLED IT A MARU MARI

Team Fortress 2 's art style is hilarious. Cartoony without relying on overdone cellshading . Pic related. Also, in before hats. Borderlands ' "hand-drawn" look is cool, too. But I also really enjoy the artistic design of Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days . The documentary style with compression artifacts and light washing everything out, and all of the other details they do really make for an exciting...

Feels bad, man. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City . A lot of people are cockhard for this game, but to me, it might as well have been a mod for GTA III . I love the hell out of GTA III and played the shit out of it, so I was really excited for Vice. But when I played Vice, it felt like more of the same, only with a story that makes no sense (GTA III had pretty much no story but didn't pretend to have...

Not much to say this week and I'm guessing this might become a trollthread, but it really isn't intended to be one. New game just came out Friends say it's incredible No PC release

I don't have a favourite in particular, but ones I especially miss are the oldschool adventure game (thank you, Telltale , for keeping it alive) and the space simulation games about technology that doesn't even exist. That's just how rich the Star Wars and BattleTech universes are. TIE Fighter and MechWarrior 2 are some of my favourite games of all time, ones I miss dearly. I grew up playing th...

I really feel like answering Kyle Katarn because of how much Dark Forces and Jedi Knight had an impact on me as a kid. I want to say Max Payne . The voice and narration fuel that game. If you haven't played it, punish yourself immediately. The sequel's fantastic, too. Hell, even the GBA port of the first one is well done. But I'm going to have to answer the Man Who Saves Our Chicks; The Hero Th...

This one's hard. There are some more concrete ones like GLaDOS or Andrew Ryan , but I really like more mysterious or abstract ones like the Benefactors from Half-Life 2 and its Episodes, and the environment in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the Fallout games. Not sure what to post, so here, have a picture of GLaDOS . I'd install my plug & play joystick into her rear gaming port with plenty of RAM, if you k...

DAT FACE Pretty much anything by Blizzard . Those Diablo , D2 , and StarCraft videos? Their trailers? Holy fucking shit. I haven't played StarCraft II , but when I watched (at least) one of the trailers, it looked better than most movie trailers I'd seen. But I'm going to have to go with Max Payne . The atmosphere and graphic novels? Fantastic. The Max Payne games are VERY responsible for me be...

DOUK NOUK HEM "Post a screenshot from the game you’re playing right now." A screenshot? How about a shitload of them? Here's a link to my Xfire screenshot page , with more screenshots being uploaded pretty much every time I game. Now it doesn't have all of my screenshots. I only really started using Xfire AFTER my hardcore UT1 , GTA3 , etc. days. And here my Xfire videos and a screenshot from t...

While I'm no stranger to being hit by a motor vehicle under controlled conditions , today was somewhat different. While crossing a downtown Montreal street, some dude pulled the corner without slowing down and almost hit me head on. My first instinct was to block rather than dodge. Maybe I have been doing too much gaming after all. It wouldn't be fair to blame this on videogames when really it...

Haiku time. He wears a black cloak His blue torches welcome you "What are ya buyin'?"

Once again, Super Metroid appears on this list. I would play it at least once a year. It's like a pilgrimage for me. Could I have spent that time playing other games? Sure. Would I rather have spent it playing other games? Three words for you: SUPER. FUCKING. METROID. I would give myself different goals, like "I'll try to beat my best time," or "I'll try to collect as many items as I can." Obje...

This one doesn't really make sense to me. No matter how good a game is, I would not recommend it to EVERYONE. The subtleties of a classic dialogue-heavy adventure game would be lost on, say, a console kiddie looking to throw grenades of duty and yell homophobic taunts into a microphone, know what I mean?

This is a terrible question. Ones about music, characters, or memorable moments can traverse genres, but this one really can't. How do you compare Total Annihilation to Rebel Assault , since gameplay is so radically different between the two? With that in mind, I'll instead talk about surprisingly decent gameplay. Despite being mired in a plethora of problems, even the shitty PC version of Resi...

FUUUUUCK YEAH! The ending of Link's Awakening really made me sad. I thought it was beautiful. That montage of the world that would disappear when Link and the fish wake up? His friendship with... whatever her name was? All those... moments would be lost in time, like... a link to the past. HHHHNNNGHNGH Seriously, I found that scene really sad. All of the BioShock endings are sad. Even the good...

For me, it's SUPER FUCKING METROID. Those songs fucking blew my mind. The variety of them and how well they suited the environment/situations are perfect. The title screen sets the mood with the eerie tune, the corpses bathed in the glow of the consoles, the rhythmic cooing of the metroid hatchling. And it only goes uphill from there. The Galaxy is at pea-- wait, what? Ridley stole the Metroid...

FUCK, I missed a haiku this week! Here it is; sorry for the lateness. The endless battle Rages on. Warriors glide On their Blades of Steel

It's actually "Game character you feel you are most like (or wish you were)," but I had to cut it short to fit in the title area. This one's tough to say, but I guess I'll go with Adam Marcus, aka Kane , from the Kane & Lynch series . He's a vulgar, brash, insensitive asshole who cares only about himself, uses other people, and is frequently a dick to the only friend he has . He's not as good a...

Gettin' too old for this shit. I have several, including some of the "LOL PUT RIMS ON CIVICS" Need for Speed titles, some Halo games, Super Columbine Massacre RPG! , and some really shitty free-to-play games. I also enjoy the Kane & Lynch franchise much more than I thought I would, and than I probably should. I could probably write an essay on the importance of women in the series, including th...

If these aren't all underrated, DEAL WITH IT (pic related). DEAL WITH IT. (in no particular order) Dark Forces , No One Lives Forever , Duke Nukem Manhattan Project , S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl , Flashback: The Quest for Identity , Exteel , Kane & Lynch , newschool Bionic Commando , Prey , Evil Genius ...

Day 2 - Your favorite character. Kyle Katarn , the biggest badass of the entire Star Wars universe. Ever. Bar none. You can find more about him here and see what he's up to here . Star Wars: Dark Forces V: Jedi Knight IV: Jedi Outcast III: Jedi Academy II: Super Kyle Katarn Kart

So a bunch of people are doing that "30 Days of Gaming" thing; I guess I might as well, too. Day 1 - Very first video game. The first game I ever went out to a store and bought myself with my own money was Duke Nukem Manhattan Project . A seriously underrated oldschool-style platformer, returning Duke to his 2D roots while maintaining all the stuff you'd expect from his games: gore, vulgarity,...

Not much to say this week and this one isn't about any specific game. Tiny FOV No dedicated servers Crappy PC Port

I miss sci-fi simulators of things which don't exist in real-life. What I wouldn't give for a new TIE Fighter game... Star League Forever SRMs and PPCs Kill the Freebirth Toads

Probably going to piss some people off with this one. Problem? GoldenEye was fail Kids just need to remove their Nostalgia Goggles

I'm on time this week. Here's another haiku: Not Dustbowl again Damn! Spy sappin' mah sentry! Eff this! ALT-F4

Sorry about the lateness. A slew of bullshit kept me busy for a while. Here is another of my boring gaming haikus: F5 to quicksave Press F9 to load last save Checkpoints annoy me

For those you unfamiliar with my "Accurate Look" articles, they are, as the name should imply, opinion pieces of mine. Take them as you will. I should mention that unlike the other Accurate Looks, this one will be rather spoiler-heavy, so if you haven't seen TRON: Legacy yet, get to it. I don't remember very much from when I was very little. Some memories stayed with me, stuck in head, like fil...

My ongoing feud with insomnia continues. It seems that I can't get more than a few hours of unrestful sleep each night. I lie in bed awake until 2AM-ish until my body lets me fall asleep, only to awaken me at 5 or 6 AM, at which point I cannot go back to sleep and end up loitering in bed for six hours or so. Last night, December 24th, I managed to get to bed at about 1AM, having finished my Chr...

Another fucked-up dream last night. I dreamt I was in a cyberpunk New York City, standing on top of the "Madison World Center" (presumably the future version of the Madison Square Garden). The tower was inclined, like the structures on the sides of the Tyrell Building from Blade Runner and reminded me of Montreal's Olympic Stadium. There were spotlights on the roof and it was raining heavily. F...

Another of my lame-ass gaming haikus for ya. "American Dream! Land of Opportunity! Wanna go bowling?"

Anyone up for another of my shitty gaming haikus? Well, here's one anyway. Hope you like it. Spectacular dunk! He's on fire! From downtown! Boomshakalaka!

Here's another one. Hope you guys have a great week! From Russia With Fun Dropped instead of rotate I just lost the game

Late this time, I know. Here's this week's haiku. I know I'm not the only one who despises seeing controller configurations before the keyboard/mouse controls in my game manuals these days. Not a controller W, A, S, D, and Multi-button mouse

It's Tuesday; you know what that means: "Force Unleashed" was fun But could have been way better With more Kyle Katarn

It's Tuesday; time again for another gaming haiku. I think I'll make a List and update it once in a while with them. Waiting Forever Patience will be rewarded So Hail to the King

Red energy beams Sucking hard at Instagib Press Space to respawn

On Tuesdays, I'll be posting some of my gaming haikus for no reason other than me feeling like it. (Yes, Tuesday is an M. Bison reference.)

Got 2 new comics up this week. First, Batteries Not Included #05: "Cool Toy Story, Bro" (you see what I did there). Next, the new Ages 25 & Up strip, #114 - Glass Of The Titans . Could only make a crappy filler strip this week due to real-life work. Hope someone enjoys it, anyway.

Last night, my brothers and I plugged the imported Bomberman multitap into the ol' SNES and fired up (pun intended) some NBA Jam Tournament Edition. We played as L.A. vs Seattle. Surely enough, the Lakers beat the Supersonics. I did not manage to get a triple double while fucking around, though. Does it still count as a good day?

Now that the fallout of that Multipass ordeal is behind us, I'm back once again, logged into my real GB account instead of that dummy one.

If you haven't seen it yet, check it out: http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/8980/ All Borderlands stuff on Steam is currently 66% off. That includes the DLC, and even the 4-pack! The full game for ten bucks and change, and all the DLC for another tenner and a quarter? Done.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I could use some help. So I made one of them Xbox 360 Avatar characters and set it as my Gamer Picture. It showed up as my Gamer Pic on the console and on the Games For Windows Live client, like it should. This was a few months ago. On Saturday, I made a new Avatar guy and used it as my Gamer Picture. I see it as my Gamer Picture on the console...

Had a really strange one last night. I was in some kind of forest with tall grass. Some sort of ranch. There was a house nearby with the ranchers and my older brother was there. I was running in the grass, chasing animals, maybe to take photos. There was a rock formation, or a group of a trees, and when I went around it, I saw a large deer with horns like a ram standing with its female. He must...

Fun for a while, at least until the novelty wears off. Despite the fun, the game is unbalanced, lacks variety, and grows old quickly. Feels like a Flash game you'd play in a browser, and not a game you would pay money to play. Try out the demo on their site. You'll probably get your fill in the 3 hours of allotted time and get bored of it. Altitude is almost worth your time, but not worth your...

Well, I figured it out. Turns out I just had to look stuff up.

what is this I don't even
