You know what sucks? I had thought up a (near) perfect blog post for this yesterday, but due to time constraints I wasn't able to "get it on paper". And now I am drawing a complete blank. Ha! Brains! So I will just write whatever comes to mind regarding my Extra Life venture this year and hope that there is at least some semblence of logic in there. For those of you who haven't at least checked...

As I write this, I am 8 hours into my Extra Life live stream. This being my first time doing this, I have already learned that I should have started advertising this way earlier. While I have surpassed my goal of a $100 I know it would probably be more had I gotten the word out sooner. So while it is very unlikely that I will shatter any records with my 24 hour run, the experience will prove in...

This whole week has been one of torn feelings and mixed emotions. On Monday, much like everyone here, I found out about Ryan's passing. Unfortunately that wasn't the only piece of bad news to be received on that day. A few hours prior to me finding out about Ryan there had been two calls already. One to inform my girlfriend that her cousin had passed away over the weekend (in his sleep, like Ry...

Chase your dreams, and never let others sway you from the path of your desire. See your ambitions through to the end, not to prove others wrong, but to prove yourself right. Stop dreaming. Start doing.

It has been a very long time since I've written a review of any kind. So long, in fact, that I don't even remember what game I've reviewed last. For some reason, when I had finished with Mass Effect 3, I felt compelled to write something about it. So, that's exactly what I did, in the form of a review, which you can find by clicking on this little link . Let me know what you think of it; I welc...

I'm still loving Battlefield 3. Like most the campaign hasn't really been of much interest to me, but the multiplayer more than makes up for the underwhelming single player, which is saying a lot coming from a guy who tends to avoid most multiplayer experiences. The one gripe I have with the game is that, like so many other first person shooters, there is still very little team play to be seen....

For anyone who's interested, I put the stuff I wrote for National Novel Writing Month up on google docs . It hasn't been edited in any way, so expect many a poorly formed sentences, bad use of grammar and a whole load of other things that desperately need fixing. In short, it's not very good, but it's there to read for anyone who wants to until I decide to take it down.

Yes, I am going to make a blog post just to say that I have won the National Novel Writing Month of 2011! I took the day off, and wrote for nearly 12 hours, and close to 7,000 words, but NaNoWriMo is now officially completed! P.S. Zero comments on my other blog post? I sad panda.

It's been a while since I did one of these. I've simply been far too busy to even give this any proper thought. But here I am, with part three! Now, let's take a look at one of the most vital pieces of a good story. You Are Such a Character! Yep, every story has them. Some have so many characters you can populate a small town with them, while others have only a handful of characters that bare m...

Too Much or Not Enough? If we look at all the games that we believe to have good stories, they all have something in common: they have a strong, believable world acting as the very foundation of the story we're experiencing. Even if everything that happens in the game is utterly from the realm of fantasy, and we know, deep down, that nothing like it will ever be remotely possible, the world beh...

We are frequently awe struck by amazing graphics, stellar gameplay or excellent audio. But that rarely--if ever--truly amazes us is the story. That's not to say that there has never been any good stories in games, but in all my time of playing, I have yet to come across anything that rocked my world. Coming from a guy who usually prefers to watch dumb action movies with little to no plot, that'...

I just started a video on the GB front page, but decided I wanted to watch it "embiggened" and clicked on the link next to the video. As soon as the page loaded, the video picked up right where it left off. I've never noticed this behaviour before. Am I just late to the party (as usual)?

Ok so I'm currently in the process of writing a book, and I figured after getting the opinion of only a select few, it's time I threw part of it out into the wild to see people's response. Now keep in mind that I only selected part of what I've written so far, and it is very much a first draft, so things are likely to change in the future. Also, since it's a first draft, I haven't done any chec...

After years of having music on my computer, I have finally taken up the task of rating the songs I listen to. However, it wasn't long before I realized that the whole system of rating them based on how good songs are, is fundamentally flawed. Consider this, if you will. By the logic of this system, giving a song 1 star out of 5 would mean that, in my opinion, it's a really bad song. So chances...

Note: This is a long read. I've tried to make it easy to skim through, but even so, you have been warned. Introduction This may come as a surprise to some, while others have known it for the longest time: I am a vain person. Sometimes I wish I had a fancy job just for the sake of being able to wear nice, tailor-made, clothes. With my current job, however, wearing a suit would not only look weir...

I'm not going to post a full review of Alan Wake here. I'll save that for the actual reviews section of the site. Give Me Back My Flashbangs Flashbangs in Alan Wake are probably the most useful weapon against enemies in the game. So obviously, to keep the game challenging, the number of flashbangs you'll have with you, will be somewhat limited. But do I really have to give them up completely wh...

Before I start this blog, I would like to make a little apology to the people I follow, and follow me in return. I feel that I should put more of an effort into keeping track of your blog posts and commenting on them. It's just that I have a very forgetful nature, and I easily get caught up in other things. But I promise to try harder, and I apologize for my lack of feedback on all your blog po...

The Best Time So I have been staying in the states with my girlfriend for almost a month now, and I am really sad to say that soon I will have to go back to the Netherlands. If there was only one thing I could wish for in this life, it would be to stay here with her and the kids. But things aren't that simple, and if I want this to have a happy ending in the long run, I will have to do this acc...

For those waiting on the next chapter in my DA Diaries, I promise I will have one up soon. However, after that it might be a while until another chapter sees the light of day. Reason is that I am currently in the U.S. visiting my girlfriend, and I am unsure whether her PC can run Dragon Age. I'm downloading the game off Steam as I write this, and when it finishes, I will try it out. I hope it w...

Introduction I had intended to write my introductory yesterday, but I simply did not get around to it. So I'll write one now, and I will try to keep it relatively short. The purpose of this little endeavor is to simply get my creativity flowing again. I used to spend a lot of time writing, but about ten years ago I stopped for reasons I don't need to mention here. But now I want to finally get...

I don't normally blog about this kind of stuff because, well, I don't think I should bother people on here with it. But today I will write something, simply because I feel the need to. About a week or so ago I was informed that my grandma had suffered yet another heart attack, and that she was doing really badly. She'd been in rough spots before, but this time it was different; everyone kind of...

Assassin's Creed 2 and Dragon Age. If I can't get those games I will be a very sad pup.

For anyone who doesn't know, a couple days ago I went on a trip to the states to meet my online girlfriend. I got here last Monday, so just a quick blog on what I think of being here so far. I could just sum it up in one word, but I'll try to be a little more detailed than that. I got on the plane in Amsterdam early Monday morning. Unfortunately the plane got delayed due to a computer malfuctio...

So I finally got my xbox 360 back, and the first thing I did was go back to playing the DLC for it. As soon as I finished it, I felt compelled to go back to playing the original story as well. But now that I've been playing GTA for a bit again, I started thinking about what it is that I'd like to see in the next game. Or to be more specific, when I walked past a pizzeria and couldn't go in it l...

Been meaning to post this as soon as I got it, but then I got caught up in other things and I forgot about it. I bought a new HDTV about 2-3 weeks ago. It's not really all that big at 32" but I'm happy with it nevertheless. It's an LG 32lg30 at 720p. I was looking at a Sony Bravia as well but that was 200 bucks more, and I'm perfectly satisfied with this one. It actually has a lot of features t...

I believe this was the very first (and last) 3D version of Monkey Island. It was also the very first time I played a Monkey Island game, and even today I fondly remember the jokes, strange puzzles and hilarious sword fights with swearing in it.

Yep, this is going to be second xbox live rant in a short time. I'm someone who has always been an avid fan of xbox live and all its offerings, oftentimes even defending it against those who spoke ill of it. But right now, I am incredibly pissed off with Microsoft's policy for it. Here's the deal. In October of last year I cancelled my credit card, which logicially blocked any transactions as w...

Yep this is going to be an outright rant. Feel free to ignore it if you want. I cancelled my credit card because I always have trouble with spending far too much money. So to avoid that temptation, I got rid of my credit card and instead decided to start using prepaid cards for xbox live. Well I bought my first prepaid card last week, and despite several attempts I couldn't get it accepted. So...

Nope, not gonna do it. No matter how much you beg or plead with me, I will not make a GOTY blog! However, if you feel like trying to bribe me into posting one I'm not going to say no to that. Won't mean I'll actually make a GOTY blog, but hey, you can try (I hope . All kidding aside, I wanted to post a little blog entry about my experience with the new Prince of Persia game, which I finished a...

I just want to say that I am truly amazed at how easily some people keep their blog updated with fresh content all the time. Sometimes they're hit and miss obviously, but for the most part I really am baffled to see so many people able to continously come up with interesting things for people to read about. And I can't help but wonder at times how you all just keep coming up with all that stuff...

So I made this incredibly ha-ha funny blog post about wanting to post about my experience with Fable 2, but wasn't gonna do it now because something else awesome distracted me. And man was it ever so funny. It was the funniest most hilarious post ever made. I swear, if you had read my awesome jokes that appeals to everyone of all ages and genders, you would love so hard that you'd end up soilin...

Ok so I have many things I want to write about but no idea where to begin. I really should blog more frequently so my head doesn't get cluttered up with all kinds of... thoughts. After all when I have too many of those thoughts in my head they leave no room for any freaky sexual thoughts, and those are a must. I mean me without freakishly sexual thoughts is like Gigastormz without his love for...

If they ever had a midnight launch here and it was a game I really wanted, then I definitely would be at one. Provided I didn't have to work the next day of course.

Yep. I finished Saints Row 2, and now appearantly I can do whatever the fuck I want. I have to say, I like doing whatever I want. But then why do the cops still try to arrest me when I shoot someone? That just ain't fair... On a serious note, the game was awesome. The story in the first one was better, but the cut scenes in this one were just so frickin' awesome! I mean, seriously, they are som...

Just one piece of advise for everyone. If you truly care for someone, don't lie to them. You'll lose everything if you do.

Been debating with myself over this for quite a while now and I still don't have an answer. On one hand I think I should keep all my gaming/pc related stuff on here and everything else on a seperate blog. But on the other hand I'm thinking, why bother, I'll probably have more luck getting readers if I just post everything on here. On the ooother hand, however, maybe if I actually added the link...

I think I am addicted to overclocking... Believe it or not, but in November 2007 I bought my current PC, and ever since I have been busy overclocking it, trying to push it just that much further every time. I got a Intel Quad Core 2.4Ghz processor and I've been slowly but surely upping the ante. And I can tell you, it can be pretty nerve wrecking to do so. But hey, it's totally worth it because...

In a fairly recent podcast, the GFW crew spent some time talking about the high barrier of entry that comes with jumping into multiplayer games, specifically ones that have been out for a while already. Listening to them talk about it, I started thinking about my own multiplayer experiences, which pretty much coincide with everything they said, and it's a strong reason why I mostly stick to sin...

Just got Geometry Wars 2, and I like it alot, so I'll be playing plenty of that over the weekend. I also intend to finally get around to finishing Penny Arcade's game, and if there's enough time left, should finally start looking into those games which I bought but have been doing nothing but collect dust ever since.

I'll just get right down to it. I seriously like this site, and it may very well be my new home. I'm still confused about a bunch of things, but I'm getting the hang of it. And the more I do, the more I like it. After the whole GS debacle I tried finding another site, but none of them really gave me a good feeling (as strange as that may sound), so I stuck with Gamespot. But even though they we...
