What I've been doing lately...

A while back, I mentioned I was studying character concept art. Well, I still am, but a lot more intensily lately. The last month or so proved quite fruitful for me in terms of studying - I finally started to get comfortable drawing. I don't feel insecure when I face a blank sheet of paper. A while back, I mentioned I was studying character concept art. Well, I still am, but a lot more intensily lately. The last month or so proved quite fruitful for me in terms of studying - I finally started to get comfortable drawing. I don't feel insecure when I face a blank sheet of paper. Taking a deep breath, I patiently start out a drawing. Whether it's a copy of a photograph or a creation of my own, anxiety is the least of my worries. And this has shown in the last weeks of practice, in my work, gaining a lot of praise from my friends and my teachers. I am very happy with my progression, and since I've been missing from posting in my blogs for quite a while now, I'd like to share one of my favorite drawings so far, done last week.

It was based on Jordu Schell's "Scary Movie Alien" sculpture, with some liberties I took in some parts of its design, mainly, his feet. The sculpture's feet were too human, I felt. This is also one of my first attempts at texturing and shadowing a drawing, using different widths of pencils and a thin eraser.

As for games, I haven't been playing much. Two weeks ago I hit level 70 with my second character in World of WarCraft, my druid. He's much more fun to play than the hunter, and just yesterday, I managed to acquire the epic flight form that makes the druid turn into a raven that flies incredibly fast. I hooked my Dreamcast back up after listening to the special Dreamcast anniversary edition of the Retronauts podcast. Mainly played some Garou and Test Drive LeMans. For those interested in my 360 situation, I should be getting back online in about two weeks, with an Arcade unit - glad I held out for the price drop!
