Stories: The Path of Destinies2016

3 out of 5 stars

Seems like a decent enough indie title at the start, it has an interesting premise of a book that lets you replay the same events making different decisions each time and logging Truths to uncover the true ending. This is fine and good for the first few times but quickly gets tiresome. The combat is way to slow even after getting an attack speed up gem. They have sword crafting system to open doors and have…

Kholat2015

4 out of 5 stars

At first I didn't like it but it really grew on me. The game starts you out with pretty much no indication of what to do or where to go unless I missed it somehow. The world is creepy and the story keeps you wanting to know what's going on. The map system that has you navigating like you actually would out in the wild will most likely turn a lot of players off but I enjoyed it a lot. Though it can be troublesome…

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen2013

4 out of 5 stars

I first played this on ps3 and just couldn't get into it. I really liked the combat and monster hunter feel but it was so odd in its presentation of what the hell to do and story that I fell off not to mention it's pretty unforgiving. I eventually got it on ps4 and devoted more time to it and loved it. The story is interesting especially when you find out what the fuck is going on. The combat is pretty good but has…

Transistor2014

3 out of 5 stars

Took me a while to get through this one because I found it pretty boring. I love the art and music but not a fan of the enemy designs, same with Bastion. The combat system was actually pretty cool and strategic. Found some of it fairly repetitive but all in all it was a easy play through.

Uncanny Valley2015

1 out of 5 stars

While it starts off good it quickly turned into me not knowing what the hell I was doing. There are multiple endings and I somehow ran into one accidentally. There are multiple moments where there is a quick cut like I'd accidentally skipped a cuts end. I got the bad ending twice after running into a wall and you have to start all over again through the intro which is pretty stupid. The controls are bad as well.

Bully2006

4 out of 5 stars

This was a welcome departure from Rockstar's usual type of games. The story wasn't the greatest but it worked well for the style they were going for. It really shows its age on the ps4 with most of my issues coming from the camera. I had issues with the game reading the right stick as the left when moving and trying to look around. Aside from that I loved the game and hope they revisit Jimmy in the future with a…

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia2016

2 out of 5 stars

This game is just frustrating as all hell. Most missions have a get spotted and fail condition. Repetitive chase missions that require more speed than your character has requiring you to spam run jumping. The final mission is outrageously bad. Checkpointing is terrible as well. Surprised they don't just start the level over. On top of that the story started out intriguing but quickly turned bland. Also lots of…

Diablo III2012

5 out of 5 stars

This game is awesome. The gameplay seems repetitive but never really gets old and endlessness of the game makes it great for a mindless podcast game. One thing I didn't like was playing as a Monk I wasn't really getting weapons for my class. Think I got maybe 10 fist weapons none of which out ranked my current gear ever. Also love Blizzard's cinematics. Would love to see a Diablo CGI movie.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin2009

4 out of 5 stars

Overall I thought this was a decent sequel to F.E.A.R. which I loved. The story wasn't the greatest but it worked. There wasn't as many scares or spooky moments as I would've liked but that didn't ruin the experience. My main complaints were some of the controls. Not being able to swap the the R1/R2 inputs and the weapon selection menu was bad. I also felt that it ran a little clunky. Sometimes my firing would stop…

The Deadly Tower of Monsters2016

4 out of 5 stars

Where it lacks in gameplay depth it makes up for in its clever humor. The game gives a great comedic feel of a 1950's scifi film. The combat is pretty average and most of the platforming is frustrating but I think the Director commentary makes it worth it. There is some good humor and a fair amount of hidden bits used in clever ways. I feel like it did drag on a bit but it was still a fun play and an easy platinum.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt2015

5 out of 5 stars

There are a few things I didn't like, a few bugs here and there but overall the last entry in the Witcher series (for now), was a joy to play. The writing was great, I felt that almost all of the side quests were very good and the overall story was great. There is a good deal of character depth to the majority of the main characters that really makes you feel for them. I must say that I am a little sad that this…

Resident Evil 62012

3 out of 5 stars

I don't consider this a true Resident Evil game, it is a very good action game. You'll read all these reviews or comments about the game and think it is the worst game ever made but I really enjoyed it. If you can look past how disconnected it is from the rest of the series it is, save the characters, you'll get an insane over the top action game with good set pieces and boss battles. The coop is really fun and…

Resident Evil 7 biohazard2017

4 out of 5 stars

I was a little skeptical when they first showed footage for this game and then after playing the demo thinking that they were just trying to capitalize on the overblown craze that was P.T. What we got instead was a very well designed return to the horror roots of he Resident Evil franchise. To me it wasn't overly scary, the tension however was very high and it made the game for me. Upfront it almost comes off a…

Alien: Isolation2014

4 out of 5 stars

With a decent narrative and a constant sense of tension, Alien: Isolation stands out as one of the better horror games I've played recently. Though you get a few weapons the scarcity of ammo and the fact that only the flamethrower and molotovs work for chasing the alien off temporarily, mean you're not overpowered at any point. In fact, I rarely used my weapons on the working joes or human enemies until late in the…

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter2014

4 out of 5 stars

This game came up multiple times in my search for Lovecraftian games and I think it was mainly due to the Cthulhu reference in the game. I also wouldn't really call it a horror game but it was a great game none the less. The puzzle solving was minor but enjoyable, the game looks good and had god music and sound. The whole detective mode stuff was neat and reminded me a lot of Murdered Soul Suspect. My only real…

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture2015

4 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed the story in the game even if some of it was a little hard to follow near the end. The game is gorgeous, loved wandering the countryside and the soundtrack is equally beautiful. The only downside is how damn slow you move. You walk very slow and even the wind up sprint is slow. This makes backtracking and seeing everything tiresome if you have to jog all the way back through an area. If you enjoy a good…

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One2011

2 out of 5 stars

When me and my wife first started it was mostly fun but recently when on the last stretch of the game we got fed up with it. This game is made for four people plain and simple. It's evident when you look at how damage is dealt to enemies by coop attacking. The gameplay is clunky, the camera has got us killed a lot. On this last stretch there is no weapon stations or ammo/health pickups and the check pointing is…

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning2012

4 out of 5 stars

I've always enjoyed Amalur and it's one I find myself coming back to on occasion. It feels like a mix of Fable and a little of Oblivion. It has a nice stylized look to it with a good fluid combat system. It has the Elder Scrolls style of not picking a class and just playing whatever feels good. It's other RPG trappings like Alchemy and Blacksmithing are a little shallow but they get the basic concepts right. Most of…

Dishonored2012

4 out of 5 stars

Dishonored is a fantastic game with few drawbacks. The story is decent and the gameplay phenomenal. I think the game really stands out in how many ways it gives you to go about an objective. There are multiple ways to enter an area, multiple ways to kill or pacify your targets. The game gives a lot of choice in how you approach your gameplay style and that is something I respect very much. My main issue is you are…

Darkest Dungeon2016

4 out of 5 stars

Love the game. Had a good strategy hook and fairly simple design. Great art as well and it does Lovecraftian horror proud. Also the narrator is awesome! One thing I will say is it's a little too unforgiving with no difficulty. I know that is the point in Lovecraft lore but even some of the starting quests are difficult. The other thing is how half-assed the PS4 port is. Way too many button combo shortcuts. They used…

Killzone: Shadow Fall2013

3 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the first three games. Mostly 2. I feel like Shadow Fall was just a game they threw out for the PS4 launch. I found the gameplay at times to be finicky. Frequently got popped out of aiming for no reason. Mantling and aiming over cover was also clunky at times. Not a good variety of weapons. I didn't even see the shotgun pistol until the ending level. You also are locked into holding the railgun…

Lost Planet 32013

4 out of 5 stars

Sure there are issues. The sort of open world nature gets annoying with having to slog back and forth between side quests. The gunplay isn't great but manageable. The rig combat is pretty good, wish there was more of it honestly. Where it really shines is in its story. Cutting back and forth between protagonist Jim Peyton's last story to his grand daughter and how he came to be on E.D.N.III. It's paced extremely…

Ratchet & Clank2016

4 out of 5 stars

One of, if not the best looking game on PS4 to date. I'm a big Ratchet and Clank fan and this game does not disappoint. Sharp graphics, good gameplay and the awesome goofy weapons. The game is based on the movie which is a reimagining of the first game so you will get a few new surprises if your a veteran of the series. The gunplay could be better but the basic gameplay is good. I would've like to have seen more…

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

5 out of 5 stars

Uncharted 4 is fantastic to say the least. It plays even better than the previous games, introduces some new mechanics, focuses more on stealth. Hell you can even slide across shale slopes. What I really love about these games is the stories and characters and Naughty Dog nails it harder than ever in the last installment. The pirate adventure is awesome and all the characters you've come to know and love interacting…

Firewatch2016

4 out of 5 stars

Firewatch has a very smooth and colorful art style that stands out from most games out there today. I enjoyed the story a great deal. It was paced very well and the mystery that they start and add on to little by little was awesome, even if the conclusion wasn't that satisfying. The game gives you a few options in terms of setting up relationship and decisions on how to go about things. The PS4 version has a few…

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China2015

4 out of 5 stars

The way Assassin's Creed was adapted to a sidescroller was a smart and refreshing change of pace. I wouldn't like to see all the games go this way, and though I was hoping to see China/Japan as a full game release, having some side stories like this allows Ubisoft to narrow it's scope of the story it's telling. The gameplay is good and the visuals are decent. The art really impresses when they make use of Chinese…

Syndicate2012

4 out of 5 stars

Syndicate is a fun cyberpunky game. Enjoyed the abilities and some of the more futuristic weapons. Coop seems cool as well but no one plays anymore on PS3 anyways. Only problem I had was the aiming always seemed off. No matter how I tweaked it it was either too fast or too slow. Not to mention there was no separate options for iron sights so I mostly hipfired. This didn't detract from the fun of the game though.

Never Alone2014

4 out of 5 stars

What I enjoyed most about this game was the little insight videos. I always like learning different stuff like that and it's a neat thing they did with the game. For the most part I enjoyed the game and its story but some of the platforming is down right bad. So first off, I played this whole game coop with my wife. She is not the best at videogames and gets frustrated easily but there were some jumps and climbing…

Broken Age2014

4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this game but there were a few puzzles that almost turned me off. The game would've benefited from a hint system I think. I also can't get over that I had to sit for minutes while a snake choked me to death. Also some of the puzzles were just dumb like the knot untying one. I'm not a big adventure game person in this classic sense but I do enjoy them. What I hate is when I feel like I can't get the…

Call of Duty: Black Ops III2015

4 out of 5 stars

I'm always enjoy the story in the Black Ops games and this one is very good though it takes a little too long. The gameplay is relatively unchanged, save the fact it isn't as free as in AW. Somethings in the campaign loadout wise could've been explained better, for instance I went through half the game without the wallrun/double jump thinking it was an unlock somewhere when its just an upgrade in the traversal perk…

Until Dawn2015

5 out of 5 stars

I loved this game and what it did conceptually. I do think it's sort of a one playthrough game as far as experience goes since you know what the opposite choices outcome will be most of the time. Still the game makes choices matter in a way few games do. There was one choice outcome I felt was very badly implemented and one in the finale that is not really telegraphed as well as it should be as far as consequence of…

Murdered: Soul Suspect2014

3 out of 5 stars

I this was a pretty decent mystery game and just the right length to not feel like it was dragging. There were technical issues, foremost the game not showing select prompts until it was in the perfect angle. One other thing that I disliked was a lack of character development or involvement. Ronan isnt really a douche, he's just kind of meh and his wife says swagger waaaaaaaaaaay too much. Other than that I think…

Damnation2009

2 out of 5 stars

While not an unplayable game, it certainly suffers from large amounts of bugs and issues. The story is pretty bland and forgettable, same goes for the characters. The combat and shooting is not fun at all, not to mention not very effective or accurate. The platforming and climbing is decent and works when you can actually get in the position to do it. Your character moves very quickly and sloppily making it a hassle…
