Rayman 2: The Great Escape1999

4 out of 5 stars

Rayman 2 is the sequel that the series needed, and it is great! You can run, jump, and go in any direction you'd like. The charming characters, sound design, and levels are very well done in this game. The collecting and pacing are done well, you collect lums, and save critters to unlock new stages. Overall, this game is great for the platformer lover!

Super Smash Bros.1999

4 out of 5 stars

Super Smash Bros. was the first of an ongoing series of fighting games featuring crossover characters. The idea was really cool, and when it came to life, it sparked a lasting legacy of fighting glory. The game itself is primitive compared to later entries, but the battle system was unique at the time. Though the game itself may have not held up as well compared to later titles, it's still worth checking out if you…

F-Zero X1998

4 out of 5 stars

F-Zero X is the best racing game available on the Nintendo 64. Not only is it super fast, but there is a huge competition with great graphics, tons of tracks, and everything is in full 3-D! This game was truly innovative for the time, and it still holds up very well, especially for a Nintendo 64 game.

Star Fox 641997

4 out of 5 stars

Star Fox 64 is a Rail Shooter released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997, the game itself (until 1998) was bundled with a rumble pak that allowed for a more immersive experience. As for the game itself, it is tons of fun with many great levels and paths you can take with intuitive controls, memorable characters, and great level design. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest1995

4 out of 5 stars

Donkey Kong Country 2, as the name implies, is a sequel to 1994's Donkey Kong Country. This time around, however, Diddy and Dixie Kong are tasked with saving Donkey Kong as he has been kidnapped by K. Rool. The buddy mechanics in this game are unique compared to the last entry, now you can throw a buddy to hit an enemy, and switch characters to reach some harder areas with Dixie's floating mechanic. There are also…

Super Mario Kart1992

4 out of 5 stars

While Super Mario Kart wasn't initially intended to be a Mario game, it still screams Mario with it's great music, it's fun controls, and the unique items that made it special. This game may not be very visually appealing and may have limited content, but it is still a classic that is worth checking out if you have a Super Nintendo.

Gran Turismo 21999

4 out of 5 stars

Gran Turismo 2 has all the same cool gadgets from the 1st, but now, it has more vehicles, tracks, and a new challenging rally mode! This was at the time, the best racing simulation. It hasn't aged the best next to newer racing simulators, but it still holds up well.

Five Nights at Freddy's2014

4 out of 5 stars

Five Nights at Freddy's was among the first of it's type. Unlike other horror games of the time, Five Nights at Freddy's characters are animatronics based in an 80's diner. The gameplay mechanics are pretty good, but don't flex to a very wide variety of players as it is pretty difficult and requires good strategy skills. However, since it's release, Five Nights at Freddy's has become an internet phenomenon thanks to…

Poppy Playtime2021

4 out of 5 stars

Poppy Playtime is a relatively new puzzle game released on many different platforms. It revolves around a man whom is trying to find his coworkers after an incident that took place. You must complete puzzles, and avoid the threat lurking in the shadows. I feel like the content in the game is limited, however the mechanics are creative and refreshing, especially for the horror genre.

Rayman1995

4 out of 5 stars

Rayman was one of the launch titles on the PS1, and one of the best ones at that. When I played it, I was impressed with the highly imaginative art style and the memorable characters. While the game is repetitive and easy at times, I still think this is still worth checking out!

Excitebike1984

4 out of 5 stars

Excitebike is a pretty unique NES title, it has 5 stages in which you race for the best time, or against other bikers, or you can build or own stage as being a part of the programable series on the NES. Despite it's simplicity, this one holds up really well and has good replayability!

Rad Racer1987

4 out of 5 stars

Rad Racer is one of the most underrated arcade games ever made. The turns are fast, and you are swerving around traffic, trying to reach the goal at the end before time runs out. It is similar to pole position in gameplay mechanics, but with more maps and vehicles. If you are bored and looking for an arcade game, this one won't disappoint!

Kid Icarus1986

3 out of 5 stars

This game started the Kid Icarus franchise introducing us to characters like Pit, and Palutina. Based in greek mythology, the visuals are well-done for the time, but if you plan on playing this, brace yourself for lots of dying, nearly unbeatable levels, and very hard bosses. Overall, it is fun from the get-go, but it gets very frustrating quickly.

Tetris1984

5 out of 5 stars

Whether you are new to video games, or are a hardened veteran, Tetris is sure to please everyone. Tetris is celebrated for its real-time decision making with falling blocks, that increase in speed as the level continues. F-1 World Grand Prix1998

4 out of 5 stars

This game works well with the Nintendo 64 controller, and allows for multiple ways to hold the controller. It has a tuning menu, a challenge mode, and a decent size competition. The game does have some bugs, for example, if you hit a wall, the car will glitch a lot, leaving you disoriented. Though there may be better Formula 1 games to play, this one isn't too bad.

1080 Snowboarding has a great soundtrack, great visuals, and the controls work well, making this a charming title that takes you back when you play it. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire1996

3 out of 5 stars

I was really excited to try this one out, I was really impressed with the snowspeeder stage, but the face-to-face combat had horrendous controls. Who enjoys playing games looking left and right with the left stick? Anyways, with that aside, it had some fun moments, and it looks like a lot of work went into it, but this title just isn't worth it.

Gran Turismo1997

4 out of 5 stars

Gran Turismo was revolutionary when it came out, and it is still impressive to see the massive jump compared to previous racing games at the time. This was also one of the very first games to use ray-tracing, which also shook the world of video games. I had a lot of fun with it, and I think you, the reader, will too.

Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec2001

4 out of 5 stars

Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec was a very innovative game using the formula the old games used, but this time improved the graphics, and physics making it much easier to play. I will say, with the default controls scheme, it gives my hand cramps sometimes. Very fun game, for those just starting, and those that love cars.

Frogger1981

3 out of 5 stars

Frogger for the Atari 2600 takes the great base game, but the low-end graphics make it harder to play than the original. If this port had a bit more polishing, then maybe it would be a better experience, but for now, it is hard to play, and feels unbalanced.

I enjoyed this game a lot. It has very creative characters, and environments, and has some unforgettable moments. The non-linear gameplay offered by previous entries is very refreshing, as it allows you to do what you want, when you want! I will also say, it looks wonderful in the banana yellow cartridge.
