It takes a lot in this era to make a 1-2 hour game worth it. First: It should be too hard for a 7 year old. 2nd it should feel fun but filter you a few times before the big showdown on venom. 3rd it needs memorable voice acting so at the very least the cast sticks in your head every run. Starfox 64 was all of these things for me, and make it a difficult formula to recreate, as many times as they try. Nearly every level in this game has an interesting twist, gimmick, or side objective that make replaying them fun and interesting. I enjoyed chasing down medals in search of a perfect run. It’s not the most perfect game of all time, but it is my favorite.
