Mega Man 102010

4 out of 5 stars

There's less generally frustrating "gotcha" moments in the levels for this one compared to Mega Man 9, and the robot masters' rock-paper-scissors is often easier to deduce, which gives me a generally higher opinion of this one compared to 9. However, when you've only got your buster to work with, I did find that the bosses were abnormally tanky against your buster to the point that fighting one without its weakness…

Pragmata

3 out of 5 stars

It's a solid idea, distracting you from a slow-moving third person shootout with a hacking grid that grants buffs and debuffs, but it just isn't kept fresh enough, even throughout its disciplined runtime of about 10-12 hours. A number of things could have brought this up a few notches for me: a better story, more control over the numbers and modifiers, some kind of planning phase for your loadout, more varied…

Palworld2024

3 out of 5 stars

What starts as a simple but satisfying loop in a world that's fun to explore becomes a tedious grind around level 60, at least in single player. Perhaps they were trying to make a game that appealed better to the crowd that likes to play on a persistent multiplayer server, but this could be remedied in single player with simple numbers tweaks, many of which are exposed for the player to change in the World Settings.…

007 First Light2026

4 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed my time with the game, but while they sometimes nail the Bond fantasy exactly, I found that their previous Hitman games often got far closer to that fantasy more frequently than this game did. It's a solid game, but not a game of the year contender or anything. Too much reliance on the Q Watch gadget to solve all of Bond's problems, as well as frequent walk-and-talks and Uncharted-esque traversal…

Half-Life 22004

5 out of 5 stars

A game I can go back and replay any time, and I've done so on several occasions, and it still feels fresh. Pacing can be tricky, but Valve made it look effortless for the game's entire runtime, mixing up mechanics, turning the action on and off, keeping the story intriguing; you name it.

World of Warcraft2004

4 out of 5 stars

These days, I've fallen out of love with online-only games, and truthfully, I never even made it to max level a single time with any of the two or three characters I rolled in this game, but I enjoyed it for a hundred or so hours well enough.

Resident Evil 42005

5 out of 5 stars

An action thrill ride that leans into its camp. Some vestiges of the Resident Evils that came before it can be found here, but mostly, this is an action game with an inventory management twist on it, and it's a classic for a reason.

Shadow of the Colossus2005

4 out of 5 stars

It definitely made an impact in its day, and this game has a mood to it that hits well, but it's biggest flaw is that it's a bit one-note. It is a good note though.

Guitar Hero2005

4 out of 5 stars

A solid rhythm game that reaches out to people like me who aren't typically into rhythm games. The soundtrack isn't as strong as its successors, especially since they're all covers, but tons of us lost so many hours rocking out in this game.
