Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X2009

4 out of 5 stars

To start off, why does everyone complain about the "eXperimental" part on the end? Flying more than one jet in a squadron is experimental, as well as the fact that many planes (YF-12, YF-23) in the game are experimental prototypes. HAWX is a flying game that is on par with others in the genre. For the most part, it feels very similar to playing Ace Combat 6. Pros: -Realistic Scenarios: HAWX has you doing missions…

Call of Duty: World at War2008

4 out of 5 stars

Call of Duty: World at War does what it set out to do. Unfortunately, it set out to be exactly like Call of Duty 4. While Call of Duty 4 was a great game, this does nothing to advance the genre. Pros: -The single player campaign does not "screw up". It maintains everything that made the Call of Duty 4 campaign great to play, while putting it in the setting of WWII. The addition of the Pacific campaign was a great…

Fable II2008

5 out of 5 stars

Fable II is an example of what an RPG should be in today's market. The game expertly pulls off the choice between "good" and "evil". The consequences are actually in the game, and mean more this time around than just appearance. The dog is an excellent addition to the game. While it may not connect with every player, it definitely connected with me. It also helps with finding different items and getting treasure…

Dead Space2008

5 out of 5 stars

Dead Space is a perfect example of how I like the survival horror genre. Creepy at some parts, but overall not too spooky, so I know that the games entire purpose is not just to scare me. The innovative weaponry in the game (only one "weapon" actually is supposed to be one) certainly adds to the game. The game would not nearly be as fun with ordinary point and shoot weaponry. The idea of dismembering the enemies to…

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed2008

4 out of 5 stars

Alright, time to review another game I just bought. The latest game to come out of Lucasarts studio is not perfect by any means, but it doesn't really seem to deserve the bad rap it usually gets. Many issues seem to be fabricated in the reviews others have put out. (I mean, really? Some later enemies are force-resistant? Duh! How else would the difficulty increase?) It seems to be that the issue most people have is…

Soulcalibur IV2008

4 out of 5 stars

Soul Calibur IV is a decent fighting game for this generation. Unfortunately, it is still plagued by, at least what seems to me, the genre-wide issue of multiplayer devolving into a contest to see who can use the cheapest combo over and over again without getting hit. (Of course, that is the player's fault, mostly.) And some of the Achievements are RIDICULOUSLY hard to get, if you are worried about that kind of…

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution2008

5 out of 5 stars

Civilization Revolution, or CivRev, is an attempt to move the turn based Civilization game series to consoles. And it does it surprisingly well. As a long-time fan of the series, I can attest to the many hours I have already spent immersed in this game and attempting to play it on even higher difficulties. Now, while it may seem strange that I would give this game five stars while others do not, I do so because I do…
