The Conduit is a good step in the right direction for the Nintendo Wii mainly for it's technical achievement and robust multiplayer modes. It definately cannot compete with the famed fps games on the other consoles but the Conduit is something special in itself. Besides it being the only competitive fps for the Wii The Conduit has quite an advanced graphics engine built from the ground up that utilizes the Wii's functions. This I believe The Conduit has brought the Wii's potential into the spotlight something that almost every 3rd party developer for the system seems to ignore. The graphics are by far one of the games strongest points. Another would have to be it's extremely customizable control scheme and HUD placement which every developer should take a note of. However the main reason to buy the game would be the online multiplayer modes which support up to 12 people in free for all, team deathmatch, or team objective. All of these modes are very addicting and fun to play in a pointless kind of way. They are again quite impressive from a technical perspective. Another thing to note for the game is the musical score which is rather fitting and seems to capture the mood of the entire game quite well.
So what are the cons to the Conduit? Well for starters the single player campaign is lacking in several different areas. For starters the storyline is quite bland boring and predictable, the art design and environments themselfs are nothing special and the set piece battles are a bit of a let down. Also there is no destructable environments and no vehicles to drive around in. The majority of the entire Solo campaign is a corridor shooter where you deal with several enemy responing points and repetitive design. And propably my biggest gripe with the solo campain would have to be the balancing difficulty this game has. For example one part of a level you'll be blasting alien scum and be on your merry way and then you'll hit a part of the game that is brutilizingly difficult. I mean the worst I encountered would have to be in the 8th level of the game. There is little reason to go back and play the solo game when it is all done and over with. Sure there is an achievement system but all you get in return is concept art gallaries which if you remember one of my complaints was that the art design was quite dull. So overal I'd say the Conduit is still worth buying despite it's problems. If you have a Wii and no other system and just want to shoot the hell out of stuff then buy it. If you already have a 360 or ps3 then at the most rent it. As for me the reason why it get's the score that I gave it is because of the online multiplayer modes and the fact there is nothing else quite like it on the Wii. Here is hoping that HVS does a way better job with The Grinder's solo campaign.
