Well it's too late now and will have to wait for the third for improvements, not that Ubisoft are into that kinda thing lol. Well it's not all that bad because I really liked the opening scene of the game and it's one of those moments where you think to yourself "if Half-Life never existed would they have done that?" which is really kool. The game started off very GTA like where it got you to drive from location to location as a mini tutorial before letting you free to make your own choices. I would have loved a African GTA game but theres just nothing else to do in the game. It feels how I thought Crysis was going to be, big and expansive but in the end the game really does play just like Crysis but with horrible gun mechanics and going from point a to point b with no mini games or anything. I feel like if you're going to do a open world type of game then please take from GTA and put radios in the cars and mini games and fun side quests... just things to do that arn't all go here and kill them all. They coulda done a Afrika/Pokemon snap type mini game and added predators to the game which woulda been a kool mini game.
I made the point about the gun play and it just feels very off like it's very stiff and gives you the impression of being a floating gun rather than a person. I wish they just put in more feedback from the gun and some more animations erm..... Killzone wasn't the best FPS out there but what that game did amazingly well is feel immersed with all the reloading animations and camera shakes about etc etc. Uk.youtube.com for a glimpse of what I mean.
The driving feels a little off in the way that it handles TOO well and you get that stuck to the ground feeling. It's not a big deal because it works well enough but they defo coulda put like MotorStorm like Physics in for the driving and put a MotorStorm like racing multiplayer mode in. I do however like the animations on the steering to the vehicle, when you pull out the map and also the phone looks kool.
I havn't complete it yet and only played a few hours and I like how you can choose missions to do, however at first I thought some were main and some were side missions and I done one thinking I'll do the other next but apparently you had to choose and I left my buddy out in the cold. I've also noticed that Black people look much more realistic in games than white people for some reason. I'm glad I bought Far Cry 2 not that the multiplayer is any good because it's just your standard they packed in multiplayer for a FPS just for the to say it has it but it wont be the new CS or COD4. you could do this years ago before there were loats of great online FPS games but now you'll just get lost in the sea of games.
So the game could be improved in lots of ways but it's still fun having that open world gameplay but next time they just need more in it. I would really like to see a game that's like the Bourne Identity with expansive open world type cities and having to try find out why and who wants to kill you or something. Maybe rockstar would want to pick up that license some time int he future like they did with The Warriors.
I don't like giving scores because then you tend to count all the faults in of the game. So I like to just say if it's fun or not and yes Far Cry 2 is fun but with the massive amounts of games coming out around it I have to say if you don't have much money then wait for the price to drop. I liked Far Cry 2 more than crysis which isn't saying much because I found the single player of Crysis to be boring and the sandbox Editor to be very buggy. However if you liked Crysis then you'll probably like Far Cry 2 more than me and it runs alot better than Crysis too.
One thing I did find though is if you change your settings then the FPS will drop so I had to ALT-Enter each time I changed the settings which fixed the problem and the game runs better in fullscreen which sucks because I play in Windowed mode and noticed a hit on FPS by about 20 odd.
