The game that made me want to make games. Metal Gear Solid made me a hardcore gamer. Before it I would play maybe 4-5 games a year. MGS was the pinnacle of visuals, sound, and gameplay for it's time of course, but what really put it over the top was the narrative. Both the story and cinematic presentation for revolutionary. Sweeping camera moves and a fully voiced script blew peoples minds back in 98, and honestly it still holds up today. It's one of the first and only post modern videogames. Playstation or Gamecube version is fine by me.
Chrono Cross contains my favorite video game soundtrack of all time. It also happens to be the best looking PSone game ever made. Really well paced with a fun cast of characters.
I was an emotional wreck by the end of this game. Fantastic twists and turns make MGS3 amazingly gripping.
