Game of The Year 2014 Users Choice

by smallville123

My top 10 list for 2014 #TroyBakerwaytoofuckingoverused. Honorable mention is Spelunky, that continues to be addicting almost 5 years later. Launching on PS4 helped with streaming and such. Most disappointing/fucking broken games this year. Watch Dogs, Driveclub, Destiny. The Worst game this year was hands down is Assassin's Creed: Unity. The story was awful, the game was broken and full of empty promises, and just even when it was working just not that fun to play. It actually drove me to sign up for GameFly because I refused to pay 60 dollars for broken garbage.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

1. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I have a feeling i'm not the only one who felt Middle-Earth: Shadow of Modor should be #1. The guys who made F.E.A.R 1 and 2 made the best Assassin's creed this year which is really saying something. Mash that with Batman combat and attention to the world and you have a winner. Not only that but the complex nemesis system really felt like my game was different from someone elses. Having your own rivals and wanting to take out revenge for them killing you was an experience I have never had in a video game and I loved every minute of it. Here's hoping there is a sequel.

The Wolf Among Us

2. The Wolf Among Us

Who knew fairytales could be so badass!? Sherif Bigby was awesome and the town he protects was so interesting. I was fortunate to wait for a sale and play they whole thing in about a week and really enjoyed myself

inFamous: Second Son

3. inFamous: Second Son

inFamous has always been fun (even though 2's story sucked). The characters were fun and it looked like a true next gen game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

4. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Every year since Black Ops 1 came out I say i'm done with call of duty. But they sucked me back in with the changes they made to the way it plays. The doublejump and momentum is just fucking fun.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

5. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

I. Fucking. Love. Metal Gear. One of my favorite all time game series. The action and stealth has never felt better. Only grip is how little cutscenes/voice acting there is. Here is hoping proper MGSV delivers on the story we expect.

TowerFall

6. TowerFall

Good, solid, addicting couch co-op. Not much can be said without playing this game. I believe this started as an OUYA exclusive. Boy when it came to PS+ for free I was surprised how awesome this game is.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

7. Valiant Hearts: The Great War

GuYZ all the feels! In reality WWI is not covered that much and it was interesting to get a history lesson from a game and it looks fantastic on that UBIART engine.

Trials Fusion

8. Trials Fusion

Geometry wars is one thing but trials is a whole 'nother ball game when it comes to being a perfectionist and constantly trying to beat your friend in a leaderboard. Kept me coming back for more.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions

9. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions

It might not have been the sequel people wanted but hey they were able to recapture some of the magic that launched modern day downloadable games as a viable alternative to big AAA titles. It looks great and is a lot of fun and addicting.

Sportsfriends

10. Sportsfriends

Fun and addicting are going to pop up a few times on my list but thats exactly how I feel about most of these games. It's nice to have a game with couch co-op for a change. Sportsfriends really makes being an asshole kinda fun with Joust. The games around it are also solid.
