They dumb-down the experience of pretty much any game, making other-wise fun games tedious and just plain irritating. I hate them.
Only when it's poorly done. A little retcon here and there can actually be a really good thing....but not in games like Kingdom Hearts II and KOTOR II. But at least KOTOR II was still a good game. KH II was pretty crappy.
An old hatred.
