The political maneuvering of the various warring states that feels the most like Game of Thrones is largely just there to set the tone and serve as the setting where these larger than life battles can take place. I don't see the GoT aspects as the main course.

Just gave the Laika demo a try and was pretty blown away by it. Incredibly polished and stylish, and the combination of Trials motocross movement and shooting works much better than I expected.

Yoshi-P has said that each of the eikon battles is unique, so I'd assume they're not all going to be like this first one.

@permanentsigh: I hadn't considered that, but that does sound like the sort of strong-arm tactic they may apply.

Recent comments from the Reddit CEO make it seem like they have no intention of giving into the protests, so this may last for quite a while for those subreddits that plan on an indefinite blackout.

@pauljeremiah: They're definitely leaning into the M rating and this being dark fantasy - profanity, brutal violence, blood, sex. The story also does seem built around political intrigue and betrayal. We'll have to wait and see if those elements work over the course of the full game though.

I just played through the demo and thought it was great. It starts out a bit slow, but it's a solid intro to the combat and the overall tone of the game and its world/characters. By the time it was over, I was left really wanting to play more.

@av_gamer: I don't think they realistically have the option of not releasing it after how much time and money has been put into it. Shelving this game would probably be tantamount to completely closing the studio.

@sparky_buzzsaw: The FF7 Rebirth release window of "Winter 2023" seems plausible enough that I'll go with that, but I could easily see "Winter 2023" becoming March 2024 or something along those lines.
