    Character Overview

Paul Phoenix is first introduced in Tekken and so far appeared in all installments of the game. He is determined to be the best fighter in the universe and is depicted as a hothead and aggressive person. He also has deep hatred for the Mishima clan and anyone associated with it.  His also practices Judo in the game. He is also friends with Marshall Law and Forrest Law and trained with Lee Chaolan (hence some similar moves in gameplay). He is slated to appear in the upcoming installmen Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Paul is an American Judo expert who is driven to be the best in the world, and travels the world searching for the perfect opponent. Paul enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament in order to eliminate his competitors and find his perfect opponent.

In his ending cinematic, we see Paul in his training room. He breaks a stack of 3 glass blocks with his fist, then kicks two glass boxes in the air. He then focuses his attention on a wall with a picture of Kazuya Mishima on it, and breaks through the wall with his fist.

    Tekken 2

Paul Phoenix was undefeated in the last tournament, until the last round where he lost and was eliminated. With the announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2, Paul enters, once again with the desire of winning to become champion.

In Paul's Tekken 2 ending cinematic, he is riding his motorcycle on a mountain side highway, only for a rock slide to occur, with big rocks covering his path. Paul gets off his bike and with a single punch smashes through a rock, clearing a path.

    Tekken 3

For the second time in a row, Paul Phoenix got all the way to the last round of the last tournament, earning the right to fight Kazuya Mishima. However, due to a multi-car accident on the expressway, Paul was not able to get to the match on time, and was forced to forfeit. Nineteen years later, Paul receives an invitation to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. Although he is now 46 years old, Paul feels that he is in the best shape of his life, and enters the Tournament, hoping to get the tournament win that has eluded him thus far.

In Paul's Tekken 3 ending cinematic, we once again see him riding his motorcycle, this time along a motor cycle. He cuts in front of an oil-tanker, which is seen by a police officer, and after some arguing Paul receives a ticket.

    Tekken Tag Tournament

Though non-canonical Paul appears in Tekken Tag Tournament. It is showed that he finally faces Kazuya in the ending. Kuma suddenly appears and punches Kuma knocking him out. As he turns back to Kazuya, Kazuya disappears which leaves Paul frustrated.

    Tekken 4

Once again, Paul went undefeated through The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, even defeating Ogre. However, thinking he was victorious, Paul returned home, but his happy-ending was short lived, as unknown to Paul, Ogre transformed into his second form, True Ogre, and the tournament continued after his departure (and Jin Kazama would go on to be the victor). Although Paul claimed that he was the true champion of the Tournament, few believed him, and even those that did grew tired of his attitude. One day, Paul came across a newspaper flyer announcing The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4. Once again burning with desire to win the Tournament, he enters, looking to prove that he is the true champion.

In Paul's non-canonical ending, we see that he has won absolute control of the Mishima Zaibatsu. However, he lets others take care of the day-to-day tasks, making his executive position nothing more then a job title. He spent his days and nights partying. "No trace of his valliant spirit remained". We then see Paul walking with a woman, presumably on a date. He tells her to call a cab, and while she's off doing so, he looks at his reflection in a glass window. The lights go on inside the building, and he see's that it is a dojo, with a big picture of Paul on the wall. We then see that Paul's date has found a cab, and calls Paul, but he ignores her. The screen turns white and we see Paul in his garage starting up his mororbike. He takes off his red-tinted glasses and chucks them aside, saying "Ain't my style". Paul then drives away, his fighting spirit renewed.

    Tekken 5

During the last tournament, Paul was excited about facing Kazuya Mishima, who he hadn't seen in over 20 years. But as always, Kuma stood in his way. Paul started out well against Kuma, but soon began to feel desperate due to Kuma's tenacity. He realized he had been overconfident when he was dealt a severe blow by Kuma, and lost the match. Upon his loss, Paul started training again, as he had forgotten some important key lessons, straying away from the path to becoming a great fighter. Two months later, Paul entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, wanting to prove once and for all that he is the greatest fighter in the world.

In Paul's ending cinematic, we see Paul training in a small shack. Similar to his original Tekken ending, we see Paul breaking a wall with a picture of an alien on it (although in his original Tekken ending, it was a picture of Kazuya rather then an alien). We then see a space colony in outer space, playing a message recorded by Paul, saying"Any time. Any place. Bring it on ya' aliens!". It then zooms out, and we see hundreds of UFO's heading for Earth.

    Tekken 6

Paul Phoenix's rematch with Kuma during The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 was fierce, with Paul coming out as the victor. Despite his victory, Paul was utterly exhausted, leaving him unable to continue competing in the tournament. Unable to collect any prize money, Paul, who was already burdened by his mountain of debt, learns that a new King of Iron Fist Tournament will be held soon. Believing that if he won the tournament, his loan troubles would be over. In order to increase his chances of winning, Paul decided to assemble a team. He went over his plan with his friend and King of Iron Fist Tournament regular Marshall Law, who figured that a team of three would be better then a team of two. Marshall Law approached renowned boxer Steve Fox, and he accepted his invitation, and the three head of to Japan for The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.
In his ending cinematic, it is shown that Paul and Law devised ways for fighters not being able to participate (like Paul barricading a door to trap one of the fighters.) Everything went according to plan, as Paul and Law meets in the finals.

The scene shifts to a fighting ring, as both Paul and Law prepared to fight (with Paul shouting "Let's get started!" and Law's reply of "Leave it to me...just as we planned".As both men charged each other, Law's kick catches Paul in the face but Paul's punch hits Law....in an unexpected position, causing both to fall down.

The fight was declared a draw, yet Steve Fox was seen among the spectators, shrugging in confusion

    Tekken 2010 film
