Overview

Super World Stadium '98 is a baseball game developed and published by Namco for arcades (using their PS1-based System 12 hardware) exclusively in Japan in 1998.

The sequel to Great Sluggers (Game) (and its four revisions from 1994-1997), Super World Stadium '98 brings the arcade series to 3D (separate from the PS1 entries in the World Stadium (Franchise) series).

It received four revisions from 1999-2001 as Super World Stadium '99, Super World Stadium 2000, and Super World Stadium 2001. Each entry features updated rosters and bonus game modes. The latter two entries feature support for the "Slot Link System", allowing players to import data from latter entries in the PS1 World Stadium games by plugging in their PS1 memory card to the cabinet.

User Team ('98, '99) - "Users". Developer team.
Tokyo Namco Stars ('98) / Namco Stars ('99) / Namco All-Stars (2000, 2001) - Players are named after characters from numerous Namco games.
Tekken Warriors ('98) - Players are named after characters from the Tekken (Franchise) series of fighting games, with the uniforms resembling Paul Phoenix (Character) (with the batting helmet being Heihachi Mishima's hair).
U.S. Major Leaguers ('98, '99, 2000, 2001) - An all-star team based on Major League Baseball (Concept).
Kabushikigaisha Salarymans ('98) - Players resemble simple salarymen.
Yamato Nadeshiko Pretties ('98) / Nikotama Gals ('99) - "Gals" team. Players are women named after female characters from numerous Namco games. Later merged into Namco Stars.
All-Ce ('99) / All-Central (2000, 2001) - An all-star team based on the NPB's Central League.
All-Pa ('99) / All-Pacific (2000, 2001) - An all-star team based on the NPB's Pacific League.

Namco Characters

Beginning with '99, most players from the special Namco teams now directly resemble their original counterparts. This was changed in 2000 and 2001 to have all characters be their original.
