North Korea

LOCATION

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, more popularly known as North Korea, is a communist country located in East Asia. It is bordered by the People's Republic of China to its north and the Republic of Korea to its south.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea was founded in August 1948, three years after the revolutionary Kim Il-Sung, alongside the Soviet army, drove out invading Japanese forces in 1945. In June 1950, North Korea led an invasion of South Korea (Location), which led to the Korean war. The Korean War claimed many lives and lasted until July 1953, when U.S. forces were driven out by Korean and Chinese forces. North Korea remains one of the world's last remaining communist states.
