Mikoyan aircraft, also known as MiG, are Russian military aircraft that are used in many games.

BRIEF HISTORY :

Mikoyan was a former USSR aircraft military design corporation formed in 1939 in Moscow, Russia. It was form by Artem Mikoyan and Michael Gurevich as the "Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau" with bureau prefix "MiG". It was eventually renamed Mikoyan. When Mikoyan died in 1970, the Russian military dropped Gurevich from the company as well. The bureau prefix "MiG" was still kept.

Russia (Location) and other former Soviet Union countries are the primary operators of MiG aircraft. Countries within the Soviet Union's influence such as China (Location), North Korea (Location) and North Vietnam also use MiGs. Because of the cheap cost compared to US and European planes, MiGs are operated in many air forces around the world.

In 2006 the Russian government merged the Mikoyan Corporation with Sukhoi, Tupolev and other Russian aircraft manufacturers to form the United Aircraft Corporation.

Games use MiG planes in many genres. Strategy games like Command and Conquer Red Alert and Generals use MiGs as air units for air strikes and anti-air roles. Flight simulators and flight combat games like TOM CLANCY'S HAWX and HAWX 2 allow players to fly MiG aircraft in dogfights. Modern Warfare 2 features the MiG-29 as a kill streak reward.
