    Overview

    A dystopian society is one that is presented to the player as noteably worse or more problematic compared to the present state of human society. In video games this can be based on any number of reasons but common themes are the exploitation of nature by an overly technological society, totalitarian and oppressive political regimes, post-apocalyptic societies, or a state of generalised suffering and hardship resulting from various kinds of social problems.
