@deadpanjazman: Other countries do that as well, especially during the Olympics. The treatment of homelessness is a worldwide problem and not just limited to the US.
The thing about No Man's Sky is that both the company and the press are so wishy-washy when talking about it that we have a situation in which you guys talk about it for half an hour and the only thing I learn about it is that you guys are excited about it. And the only reason seems to be that there's a mystery about the game. But there are hundreds of games on Steam which I know nothing about and I'm not about to go buy them to see what they're about.
This same thing happened with the Witness, in which I didn't buy it when it came out, but I probably would have if I had known more about it, because all the "spoilery" stuff you guys didn't want to talk about was all the interesting stuff.
I'm going to wait and see, because right now it's hard to tell if this is another Wing Commander: Privateer or just another Spore.
I think people keep asking what you do in this game because there seems to be so little to do. You collect resources to upgrade three things, and sometimes space drones show up. And the planets are procedurally generated using a computer program.
Wing Commander: Privateer this ain't. At least from what they show, and there doesn't seem to be any kind of hidden depth.
@lelcar: You mean like a Let's Play or an Endurance Run? Apparently the last thing Jeff wants to be known as is as a guy who plays video games on the internet, even though 98% of what he does entails playing video games on the internet.
@amyggen: People are more dedicated about not liking Dan, haven't seen any serious Austin hate. And those YouTube comments don't mention anything you describe, in fact the most upvoted comment is a satire on something you describe, yet I can't find anybody actually behaving like that in the comments. I guess when horrible people are not around, we need to strawman them into existence or else it could get boring?
Most of these discussions usually consist of a hundred or so comments about how terrible some people are being, only you go looking for the original "terrible" comments, and they're mysteriously gone. Makes you wonder what all the fuss is about. Most of the negative YouTube comments are people complaining about how many dislikes the video has, when dislikes do nothing and do not come with any explanation. They could be because of irrational hate for Austin or Dan. They could be because Austin sounds like he's talking over a phone. They could be because people dislike Fire Emblem. Who knows.
@newhuman: The main point of Jeff's argument seemed to be that he didn't own the cartridge of it way back when, which is a great way to decide what video games you don't like
One of the main distinctions between 3 and World is Yoshi. I'm thinkin' Jeff just secretly likes Yoshi, and all these years of Yoshi-bashing have been him covering it up
