On an episode of the Official Xbox Podcast in February 2024, Xbox President Sarah Bond said:
During the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024, Bond again mentioned the company was hard at work on the next generation of Xbox."And what we're focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions they're building."
In June 2025, Microsoft announced a new multi-year deal with AMD to build processors for the Xbox brand.
In March 2026, the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Asha Sharma, announced the "return of Xbox" will begin with Project Helix, the fifth Xbox console. She said she looked forward to speaking to people about it at the upcoming Game Developers Conference.
