Roe R. Adams III
A game designer and writer who was involved in the development of several classic computer RPG franchises.
Roe R. Adams III is a writer who contributed to several classic computer RPG series beginning in the 1980s. He provided design assistance and authored manuals for installments of the Wizardry (Franchise), Ultima (Franchise) and Bard's Tale franchises. He was responsible for writing much of their storylines in particular. Adams collaborated with Richard Garriott (Person) on developing the system of Eight Virtues that was introduced in Ultima IV and became an integral part of the series. He served as the inspiration for the character Hawkwind the Seer, also known as the Time Lord, who appeared in several Ultima games. In 1988, Adams co-founded AnimEigo, an Americandistributor of animeand Japanesefilms. AnimEigo was one of the first companies to bring anime to home video in America, and distributed well-known series such as Urusei Yatsura (Franchise), Bubblegum Crisis, and Kimagure Orange Road. He was also a writer and critic for Computer Gaming World magazine, where he interviewed games in various genres, including adventure games, strategy games, computer RPG's, and console RPG's.
