Kobe Bryant is a retired American basketball player who played his entire career for the Los Angeles Lakers. A prolific scorer and defender, his all-around play style, athleticism, and competitiveness drew immediate and longstanding comparisons to his mentor, Michael Jordan. He helped lead the Lakers to five championships, and ranks third in career points scored. Together with Tim Duncan, he is widely considered the greatest player of his generation. He has appeared in numerous video games.

Kobe Bryant was drafted in 1996 by the Charlotte Hornets as their selection in the NBA Draft. As the 13th overall selection in the draft he was the first High School player selected that year. Before the previous year, with Kevin Garnett, selecting a high school player was unprecedented, as it had not been done in 20 years. He is often credited with the emerging trend of drafting players straight from High School. However, Kobe Bryant would never suit up for a Charlotte Hornets game, as he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac that off season. Kobe Bryant, with the help of Shaquile O'Neal, would lead his team to 3 Championship titles in the years 2000, 2001, and 2002 and recoined the term "Three-peat" becoming one of the few franchises to achieve this accomplishment. In the 2007-2008 season Bryant won his first MVP award leading his team to the top of a fierce Western Conference and to the NBA Finals.
During the 2008-2009 NBA season, Kobe Bryant lead the Los Angeles Lakers to their 15th Championship as a franchise while earning his fourth ring. Kobe Bryant was named the NBA Finals MVP averaging over 32 points with 7 assists and 5 rebounds throughout the series.
