Some say it is a "Vegetable", those things are said to be edible.

The first known use of a turnip as an offensive weapon in a video game was in 1988 release of Super Mario Bros. 2. In this game Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach would pull up the vegetable from the ground and throw them at the unsuspecting citizens of Sub-Con. Since then turnips have become a staple of both video game humour and a well balanced diet. Turnips are a good source of vitamins A, C and K, and are suitable for vegetarians.
