Thorian
Also known as Species 37, the Thorian is a giant ancient plant that is at least 50,000 years old and lives on the planet Feros.
Overview
Commander Shepard (Character) learns about the Thorian from a scientist called Lizbeth Baynham, who thinks the plant might be the reason the geth are attacking planet Feros (Location). The Thorian is capable of controlling the minds of others by infecting them with spores, creating a psychic link and causing extreme agony to the person when they try to think independently. During Mass Effect 1 the Thorian is in possession of the Cipher needed to decode the messages from the ancient species known as the Protheans (Concept). In exchange for the Cipher, the rogue Spectre agent Saren Arterius (Character) sacrifices to it an Asari (Concept) by the name of Shiala (Character). Shepard and his/her team go after the Thorian, killing the clones of Shiala it created as they went ,until they eventually located the Thorian and killed it after a lengthy battle.
