Smoke Grenade
Canister type grenades used to obscure the enemy's view of the advance or retreat of friendly troops; also used to mark objects of interest such as landing zones, mission objectives, navigational landmarks, as well as targets for artillery or air strikes.
Unlike smoke bombs, smoke grenades average for about $40USD where as smoke bombs often cost only a few cents. Smoke grenades usually generate a larger amount of smoke comparatively.
Also sometimes used in paintball or airsoft events as a concealment, providing cover to move and fire from behind.
