A multicolored star that allows Mario and Luigi to transform to its Rainbow form in both Super Mario Galaxy games. They can run fast, defeat enemies, and grab as many Star Bits as you can within the time limit. It first appeared in the Honeyhive Galaxy in the first game.

The Rainbow Star is another item that appears in Super Mario Galaxy (Game) and its sequel. When Mario (Character) or Luigi (Character) grabs this item, then it will transform to its Rainbow form. In this form Mario and Luigi can run very fast and they can defeat anyone who stands in its way. The Rainbow Star theme will play when they get this item. Once the music speeds up, that means that the effect of the Rainbow Star will soon run out. The Rainbow Star first appeared in the Honeyhive Galaxy in the original Super Mario Galaxy game and in Super Mario Galaxy 2, the item first appeared in the Sky Station Galaxy (Location).
