The Pontiac Firebird/Trans Am was a front engined rear wheel drive North American Muscle car that was produced by Pontiac and a counterpart cousin to GM’s model car brand, Chevrolet Camaro.
History
In 1966, after the Firebird 1 was made and experimented in the test track in 1954. Pontiac produced the F-body, equivalent to the Chevrolet Camaro called, the Firebird (that named after the GM’s prototype test car, the Firebird 1). The first generation Firebird that shared the same models of the GTO and Grand Prix. The Firebird’s engine was 230 cu in (3.8 L) SOHC inline-six, fitted with a one-barrel Rochester carburator producing 165 horsepower (123 kW).
