Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is the tenth generation of the Japanese auto manufacturer's high-performance sedan line. The car, commonly referred to as the "Evo" or "Evo X", was unveiled in 2007 as the "Prototype-X" and was sent to production the same year. Since it's first iteration, the Evo X has seen many revisions, such as the Touring models and the introduction of an optional 5-speed manual transmission.

The Evo X brings an aggressive new design to the line and features a new turbocharged straight-4 aluminium engine. It also features the semi-automatic twin-clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission, a transmission created by Mitsubishi designed for better acceleration and optimized for sport driving. The Evolution X went on sale on October 2007 and continues to be in production. However, Mitsubishi announced on March 3rd, 2011 that, despite the success of the Lancer line, they would cease production on the car after 2013 because the car does not fit with Mitsubishi's eco-centric plans for the company's future.

The Evo X, like its predecessors, is a popular feature in racing games from various styles. Simulations games such as Gran Turismo (Franchise) andForza Motorsport have featured the Evolution X and most other Evo cars and arcade games such as the Need for Speed (Franchise) and Midnight Clubseries.

The Evolution X is also featured in rally racing games such as DiRT 3 (Game) and Sega Rally Arcade Online, thanks to the Lancer line's extensive rally pedigree. In certain games, the Evolution X will also share, much like in real life, the spotlight with its pseudo-competitor, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI (Object).
