Overview
Vault 8 is one of Vault-Tec's vaults in the West Nevada area. The vault was intended to reopen after 10 years and the residents re-colonize the outside world.
History
Vault 8 was constructed to house around 1,000 people. After the 10 years and the all-clear signal given, the vault door reopened. The residents went on to found Vault City. The vault has since then be used primarily for civic purposes: medical center, power plant, information center, and storage center. The residents of Vault City rarely venture into the lower levels of the vault. While there are people in charge of maintenance of the vault, deterioration has caused many of the doors to become stuck and unable to open. There is now only one inhabitant in the lower levels, a stuttering loner named Martin, who has been put in charge of looking after the equipment in the Command Center.
