Target Field is an open air baseball stadium in Downtown Minneapolis designed by the architecture company, Populous. Work on the site began on May 21, 2007 and opened for operations January 4th, 2010. The field cost about $390 million to build with infrastructure and financing costs raising the final total to $522 million.
Park Features
The Twins' stadium seats 39, 504 with a maximum capacity of 42,035 that includes standing room only. Rather than numbering or lettering the outside gates in a conventional way they opted to number the gates after retired numbers of Twins greats. The left field gate is number 6 in honor of Tony Oliva, center field gate is number 3 honoring Harmon Killebrew, right field gate is number 29 for Rod Carew, the plaza gate is number 34 in honor of Kirby Puckett, and the home plate gate is number 14 honoring Kent Hrbek.
