Current State
The official capital of Israel is located in the Judean Mountains, on the border of Israel and the Palestinian Territories. It has a current population of 732,100. It is a U.N. World Heritage Site and a holy city for three religions (Judaism, Islam and Christianity). It was the central focus of the Crusading Movement from the 11th Century onward. In 1967 East Jerusalem was annexed by the state of Israel, and it's status remains disputed to this day.
