Bajor was a wartorn planet for many years due to a brutal Cardassian (Concept) occupation. Starfleet (Concept) has helped the government transition back to independence but tensions between the cultures are still high. The nearby space station Terok Nor was built by Bajoran slaves and later claimed by the Bajoran Militia and jointly run by the Federation currently. Terok Nor and the Wormhole (Object) became the most strategically significant location in the Alpha Quadrant during the Dominion Wars, thusly Bajor itself as well.
