Z.A.R. is a sci-fi first-person shooter developed by Maddox Games and published by Auric Vision for DOS PCs in 1998. The second first-person shooter from Russian studio Maddox Games (after MadSpace: To Hell and Beyond), Z.A.R. is known for its open-wide areas with destructible voxel terrain, with players fighting various armed and dangerous robots with heavy power armor. Set in futuristic 2097, players control a heavily-armored soldier sent to various mining planets known as Z.A.R.'s (Zones for Artificial Resources) after a meteorite strike causes the automated mining operation to become haywire. The game later received an expansion in 1999, known as the Z.A.R. Mission Pack, adding 24 new missions and updated graphics and weapons. The original game later received a digital re-release by Nightdive Studios (Company) for Windows PC and Linux (Platform) computers on May 1, 2015.
