Yellow Brick Road is a fantasy point-and-click adventure RPG developed and published by Synergy for Windows PCsand Macintosh computers in Japan on December 10, 1995, with a North American release by Synergy Interactive sometime in 1996. Based on the world of L. Frank Baum's 20th century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its numerous sequels, Yellow Brick Road puts players in the role of an adventurer who enters the Land of Oz sometime after the events of the original novel. Together with the Tin Woodsman and the Cowardly Lion (Character), they must scour the Emerald City (Location) (which has been besieged by Nomes) to find the whereabouts of the Scarecrow and Princess Glinda. Along with the first-person point-and-click adventure elements (similar to Synergy's previous games, such as L-Zone), the game features RPG-style battles where players manage their companions' actions in real-time and use items found throughout the game to aid them. It later received a Japan-exclusive release for the Pippin (Platform). It was also ported to both the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn by Great (Company), published exclusively in Japan by Acclaim Japan on August 30, 1996. It also received a direct Japanese-exclusive sequel in 1996, along with a mini-game collection spin-off in 1997.
