Overview

Tristan, also known as Solid State Pinball: Tristan, is a virtual pinball game developed by LittleWing and published by Amtex Software Corporation for DOS PCs and Macintosh computers in 1991.

The first game released from the Japanese digital pinball game studio LittleWing (consisting of designer/programmer Yoshikatsu Fujita and artist Reiko F. Nojima), Tristan simulates a traditional pinball machine in a 2D top-down perspective (similar to other virtual pinball games at the time) with a very light medieval-fantasy theme and a more traditional set of gameplay features (such as hotseat multiplayer and multiball). It also uses a list of popular pinball game names as its manual copy protection.

It later received a mobile remake on June 6, 2011 for iOS devices, where it is known as Pinball Tristan. Along with new touch controls(with motion controls for nudging the table) and online leaderboards, this version features a bonus "Rock'n'play" mode where players can change the playfield's angle by tilting the device.

Early retail copies of the game originally included a real pinball, but due to damaging the plastic packaging, it was replaced with a real flipper.
