Irem's Arcade hit shoot 'em up R-Type made its debut on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as a launch title.
Overview
Super R-Type is regarded as one of the hardest installments in the R-Type series and in the shooter genre in general, most notably due to its lack of a checkpoint system. Dying at any point in a level requires the player to start the level again from the very beginning. Super R-Type contains re-used elements of R-Type and R-Type II, while adding 3 new original levels.
