Overview
Super Collapse! 3 is a puzzle game developed and digitally published by GameHouse for the PC and Mac in 2006.
The third installment of the Collapse! series of "SameGame"-inspired puzzle games, Super Collapse! 3 adds three new unlockable game modes (Slider, Continuous, and Countdown) and a brand new single-player campaign (known as Quest), where players progress through an overworld with a single level in several game modes (with other bonus areas for power-ups and a currency system).
It later received handheld ports to the PlayStation Portable (Platform) (on September 18, 2007) and Nintendo DS (Platform) (on October 30, 2007), both published by MumboJumbo. It also received a mobile port in 2008-2010 for iOS, Android (Platform), and other phones as Collapse! Chaos, using a smaller 8×10 playfield.
The game later received a sequel, with Collapse!
Game Modes
- Classic is the standard mode, with rows of blocks rising from the bottom of the board at timed intervals.
- Relapse has rows of blocks both rising from the bottom and descending from the top, with the game ending if two blocks of different gravity collide. Known in the mobile versions as Panic Attack, where the descending blocks can be paused and cleared with large clears.
- Strategy removes the timed addition to rows of blocks. Instead, they are added each time a move is made.
- Puzzle changes the formula to traditional "SameGame", with players attempting to clear an entire board of blocks without any time constraints or additional blocks. This mode includes 120 pre-made levels.
- Slider has each row of the board sliding horizontally, looping around the playfield. Rows added to the playfield alternate between left-to-right and right-to-left. New to the series and is unlockable in Quest Mode. Not included in the mobile versions.
- Continuous does not pause and reset the board between Levels, making it more like Tetris's "Marathon" mode. New to the series and is unlockable in Quest Mode.
- Countdown is a single-level timed variant where players have two minutes to score as many points as they can. Instead of raising one row, the game adds enough rows to bring the board up to the top. Colored bombs can be stored for later use. New to the series and is unlockable in Quest Mode.
