Set in the same continuity as the Batman: Arkham (Franchise) games, about five years after the events of Arkham Knight. Suicide Squad is about the titular squad of captured villains that make up Task Force X, Amanda Waller (Character)'s team of makeshift commandos forced to do her dirty work that the heroes can't or won't be allowed to solve, kept in line with subdermal explosives that will detonate if they try to escape or revolt. In this game, the Suicide Squad of Harley Quinn (Character), Captain Boomerang (Character), Deadshot (Character), and King Shark (Character), are sent into Metropolis on a top-secret mission. During their mission, the squad discovers that Brainiac (Character) has invaded Earth and has brainwashed several members of the Justice League including Superman (Character), Batman (Character), Green Lantern (Character), and The Flash, to do his bidding. With a reluctant Wonder Woman (Character)'s help, the squad must free the Justice League from Brainiac's control, and stop Brainiac himself before he finishes taking over Metropolis, and then the world.
Players take control of Task Force X members Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark as they seek to restore order to Metropolis and defeat Brainiac and the brainwashed League. Each character is proficient in operating firearms and explosives along with various technologies to help them cross the ruined Metropolis at super speed in a single bound. Stronger weapons can also be picked up from defeated enemies as the game continues. During its service period, new characters with differing abilities were added to the playable roster such as the Joker and Deathstroke.
