Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones is a computer role-playing game of horror, loss, and madness which is being developed by Istanbul based independent game development studio Cultic Games. The game takes place after a catastrophic event called the Black Day which leaves Earth as a completely dead planet in its aftermath. Arkham (the fictional city that most of the game's events take place) survives this event under mysterious circumstances and is now trapped between hostile, alien dimensions. Stygian is heavily inspired by the fictional works and modern mythology of H. P. Lovecraft. Stygian adds unique elements like a Belief System, Sanity mechanics and Mental Conditions to the old-school RPG formula. The player chooses a 1920s archetype such as an Investigator, Explorer or Actor and shape his or her character by making decisions in the areas of attributes, skills, backgrounds and such. Stygian's game-play can be summarized as a mix between adventure game like exploration, rich choice based dialogue and turn based combat with an action point system. The full version of the game will be released on 2019.
