Soldier of Light is an arcade game released in 1986 that has both side-scrolling shooter and platforming elements.
Overview
Originally release in Japan as Xain'd Sleena in 1986, Solder of Light has the bounty hunter Xain fighting an evil alien force across a number of worlds.
Gameplay
In Soldier of Light, the player must take Xain through five worlds each with their own distinct theme and geography. Along the way, Xain can pick up new weapons Each world ends with a boss fight, after which Xain plants a bomb and escapes to his ship. At this point, the game becomes a side-scrolling shooter as you make your way through waves of alien ships, before selecting your next world. After three worlds have been successfully completed, the player must fight a giant mother-ship.
