Shadow: War of Succession, known in Japan as Shadow Warriors, is a 2D crime-themed fighting game developed by Tribeca Digital Studios (Company) and published by The 3DO Company (Company) (and by Tandamp;amp;amp;E Soft in Japan) for the 3DO (Platform) on September 1994.

A fighting game similar to the 1992 arcade game Mortal Kombat (Game) (with digitized actors and a fatality system), Shadow takes place in the criminal underground of New York City (Location), as seven combatants join an underground tournament in order to become the new kingpin of the world's largest criminal organization (the Syndicate of Hate, Anarchy, Destruction, and Organized Warfare, or S.H.A.D.O.W.) after the leader's assassination.

Characters

  • Riggs Riddick - One of the organization's top drug dealers before being executed due to greed, only to get a second chance at life by making a deal with the devil.
  • Gabrielle St. John - The organization's top bodyguard prior to the leader's death, entering the contest to restore her reputation.
  • Anvil Stiles - A Navy SEAL who enters the contest hoping to shed light on the fate of his brother, who worked for the organization before his disappearance.
  • Viper - A mysterious masked man of superhuman power, seemingly willing to hinder the organization at every opportunity.
  • Erika Storm - The organization's VP of Operations, who enters the contest to avenge her father's death and claim her birthright as the organization's leader.
  • Sasha Romanoff - A KGB agent who joined the organization and become its chief assassin, hoping to rule with an iron fist.
  • Carlos Cortez - An undercover FBI agent whose true allegiances are a mystery.
  • SHADOW King - A cyborg with the brain of Kinkaid Storm, the assassinated leader of the organization. He's the game final boss, and is only fought in higher difficulties, where he uses a hand-drawn cartoon art style instead of a digitized actor. He is only playable via a glitch.
