Real Sound: Kaze no Regret ("The Wind's Regret") is a contemporary drama audio novel developed and published by WARP for the Sega Saturn exclusively in Japan on July 18, 1997.

Designed for visually impaired and well-sighted players alike, Kaze no Regret is unique in that the entire game is played through audio, with no visuals whatsoever. As players listen through the conversations between characters, they eventually hear a chime and must make a choice on how to proceed, similar to visual novels, with different choices affecting the storyline (with branching paths and multiple endings).

The game's story revolves around college student Hiroshi Nonomura (voiced by Takashi Kashiwabara), whose girlfriend Izumi Sakurai (voiced by Ryoko Shinohara) disappears without notice. Together with the mysterious Nana Takamura (voiced by Miho Kanno), Hiroshi journeys to his rural hometown of Akumi-cho to find her, only for memories of his past to complicate matters.

The game is split into four discs, and its complete lack of visuals makes it possible to play by connecting the console to an audio device (such as headphones) without also connecting it to a monitor or television. In addition, the game includes an instructional card written in braille. The game later received a Dreamcast (Platform) release on March 11, 1999, where it includes an optional "Visual Mode" that displays calming pictures on the screen. One of the game's possible branches were later broadcast over the radio station TOKYO FM on September 1997, and later received an audiobook release from WARP's successor company From Yellow to Orange Co. on July 18, 2024.

It was intended to be the first in a trilogy of entries in the "Real Sound" series, with the second ("Kiri no Orgel") having a horror theme and the third ("Spy Lunch") having a comedy theme. Both of these sequels were cancelled, although Kenji Eno (Person) and WARP used a similar audio-based concept in both Enemy Zero (Game) and D2 (Game).

Gameplay

Real Sound: Kaze no Regret is a completely spoken and audio game, as a result the game's game play elements were unique and different than most games that came before it. The player would listen to the game's story, similar in manner to a radio play, and would be prompted at particular times to make decisions in the branching storyline. These decisions would be prompted by an audible chime. Some have described the game play as almost like an audio "choose your own adventure" game.
