Rat Attack
Mutant rats are plaguing the world, and it's up to the rag-tag Scratch Cats to e-rat-icate them in this action-puzzle game.
Overview
Rat Attack, also known as Rat Attack!, is an action-puzzle game developed by Pure Entertainment and published by Mindscape Interactive for the Sony PlayStation in North America on September 1999 and in Europe on October 1999. It later received a Nintendo 64 (Platform) release in North America on April 2000 and in Europe on September 2000, and later received a PC (Platform) release in Europe.
As one of an elite squad of eight cat commandos, known as the Scratch Cats, Rat Attack has players running around the room and killing mutant rodents (either by lassoing them with their "Eraticator" and disposing them into the "Destructor", or by herding them into hazards), all while avoiding various obstacles (including the rats themselves, traps, and dogs). Along with a single-player campaign, the game includes competitive multiplayer for up to four players.
The game features a unique cartoon style, and later received online Flash cartoons detailing the origins of the six initial Scratch Cats.
Characters
Each of the playable characters have their own special ability (which require a certain amount of coins to collect before unleashing) and stats for movement speed, Eraticator power, and attack strength.
- Hai Jinx, a Japanese Siamese cat raised by monks in the martial arts.
- Sparky, a British black cat raised by a young witch. Has supernatural powers.
- Manx, an American cat with a hot temper.
- Muffy DuPont, a French "cat burglar" and femme fatale.
- Bob Cat, a British alley cat with a penchant for boxing.
- Smokey, a Swiss cat and tidy technologist.
- Sanubis, a cat resembling an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Known in some versions as "Atomicat" and is unlocked for play after completing the game.
- Pearl, an American rollerskating cat who was raised by feral dogs. She is the game's damsel-in-distress and is unlocked for play after completing the game.
