Predator is a game developed by Tom Griner (Company) for Hesware (Company), released exclusively for the Commodore VIC-20 in 1982. While the game plays overall as a shoot-'em-up, with the player's bird firing an unidentified projectile as an attack, there are elements of control similar to Joust (Game), released the same year, where the player can flap above an enemy and descend on them to attack. The players' "predator" bird is tasked with wiping out all of the enemy birds before all of the leaves fall from the trees, the latter action acting as a time limit. Some birds may drop eggs, which eventually hatch into more enemy birds. However, worms can approach the eggs and if they get into contact with one, the hatchling will become what is known as a "mutated bird". Worms also can directly injure the player's bird.
