Pnickies
GAME » on June 8, 1994
A Japan-only arcade adaptation of the Puyo Puyo series of falling-block, tile-matching puzzle games. In this version, clusters of blocks are only cleared if it contains two or more "star" blocks in them.

Overview

Pnickies is a falling-block, tile-matching puzzle game developed and released by Capcom (Company) (under license from Compile ○ (Company)) for arcades (using their CP System hardware) in Japan on June 1994. Based on Compile's 1991 game Puyo Puyo (Game), Pnickies has players manipulating two-block pieces (or "pnickies") of different colors onto the board in an effort to clear them. Unique to the game, however, is that groups of same-colored blocks are only cleared if the cluster contains two or more special "star pnickies", regardless of the amount of blocks. The game includes both a single-player and versus multiplayer mode, the latter of which makes use of garbage blocks.
