Overview
Overcooked is a local co-op cooking game for 1-4 players developed by Ghost Town Games (Company) and published by Team17 for PC, Amazon Luna (Platform), Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch.
Story
The opening scene sets players on a rooftop kitchen during the apocalypse. The Onion King informs players of the end of times, and tasks them with feeding The Beast, a giant spaghetti and meatball looking monster. The players' efforts are futile, and the king decides to pull everyone into a time portal back to the year 1993. The players travel across the world together, through a wide variety of kitchens, in order to hone their skills in preparation for the ultimate challenge of feeding The Beast.
Gameplay
Each stage of Overcooked is presented as a kitchen with its own food selection, environmental challenges, and time limit. A continuous stream of meal requests flow across the top of the screen, detailing each ingredient required for the meal, and how large of a tip the players will receive if completed on time. Once the game timer expires, players are given a 0-3 star rating depending on the efficiency of their performance. When playing Campaign mode, specific quantities of these stars are required to proceed to the next stage.
