OverBlood
An early survival-horror game for the PS1, where an amnesiac wakes up in a derelict research facility full of mutants and discovers he is infected as well.
Overview
OverBlood is a sci-fi survival horror game developed and published by Riverhillsoft for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on August 2, 1996, with a North American release on May 22, 1997 and a European release on June 1997, both published by Electronic Arts (Company).
A spiritual successor to the studio's earlier game Doctor Hauzer (Game), OverBlood is set deep within a mysterious research facility as a man named Raz Karcy (Character) stumbles out of a cryostasis pod with no memory of what happened to him. As the derelict facility is overrun by mutants, Raz discovers that he is infected and, together with the small helpful robot Pipo (Character) and the mysterious woman Milly Azray, Raz must find a cure.
Unlike most other survival horror games of this style at the time, the game focuses less on combat and more on navigating the environment and solving environmental puzzles.
It later received a sequel in 1998, known as OverBlood 2 (Game).
Gameplay
Overblood is a third-person adventure game with tank controls. The different characters that Raz meets have special abilities that are used to help solve puzzles. For example: a tiny robot named Pipo (Character) has the ability to access technology and get into cramped places. Using the different characters and items that can be found over the course of the game allow players to complete puzzles and find out what is really going on.
Story
OverBlood follows Raz Karcy as he stumbles through the tight corridors of a mysterious research facility, trying to unravel the mysteries of its downfall.
