Othello
Othello is an arcade game adaptation of the board game of the same name, by Success Corp. It was released in 1984.
Overview
Othello is the brand name of a specific variant of the board game Reversi (Concept), registered in 1971 by Kabushiki Kaisha Othello (Japan) and Tsukuda Original (international). This digital version was licensed by Tsukuda Original and released by Success Corp. in 1984. While not the first arcade or video version of Othello, it is still nevertheless an early example of the game being adapted to screens. It was followed by Super Othello in 1986. Both games were developed by Susumu Koyama. Success' Othello would not see a port or conversion to home platforms until February 20, 2025, when Hamster Corporation would release it digitally for Nintendo Switch (Platform) and PlayStation 4 (Platform) under their Arcade Archives (Franchise) banner.
